  • Simran Mittal: From Fashion To Entrepreneurship - A Journey Of Glam & Glow

by Akshra Khandelwal Simran Mittal: From Fashion To Entrepreneurship - A Journey Of Glam & Glow 26 August 2023 LIFESTYLE Advertisement In the world of glitz and glamor, it's not every day that you come across a young and vibrant influencer who has successfully divided into entrepreneurship. Simran Mittal, a fashion and beauty industry name-making wave, recently sat with us for an exclusive interview. Her journey from being a teenage model to establishing her salon chain, "Glam & Glow," is inspiring. Let's dive into her world of creativity, passion, and empowerment. "How are you doing?" we asked, and she replied with a beaming smile, "I am doing wonderful." That cheerful demeanor set the tone for an engaging conversation, and we were eager to learn more about her journey. "To begin with, I come from a Punjabi business family; I was never a 'bright student'; I got decent grades and was not like everyone; I was waiting to finish school," Simran began, recounting her early days. It's fascinating how destiny often has its own plans for us, and for Simran, those plans were about to unfold. At 16, Simran started her journey as a model, walking on runways and featuring in brand shoots. But she realized that modeling alone wasn't enough to quench her thirst for success. Her real passion lay in winning pageants and entering the entertainment industry. However, a setback came when she was rejected from a prestigious pageant due to height criteria, which she believed was untrue. That moment left her shattered, but Simran, determined to prove herself, participated in another pageant and emerged victorious at 18. Little did she know that her journey would take an unexpected turn. "Never did I know my love for being in front of the camera would begin my career from my Instagram page," she said. With around 4-5k followers, brands started reaching out to her, and she unknowingly stumbled upon the realm of influencing. "One day, I got a call for a Fashion reality show, and I was all in to see what it's got," she continued. Though her stint on the show was brief, being the youngest contestant gave her invaluable experience. Simran confessed that entrepreneurship was always on her mind. At 19, she started her salon, "Glam & Glow," driven by her creativity and love for fashion. The salon chain aimed to deliver quality services with an eye for detailing. "It was never just a business for me; it was my baby that I wanted to grow and nurture," she said. Her entrepreneurial journey didn't stop there. At age 21, she launched her own nail cosmetic range, "S&T Beauty," which offered 100% vegan products with fewer chemicals, which was rare in the market. Simran's passion for fashion and glamming up is evident in her style. She described her fashion must-haves, including an Oversized White Shirt, Well-fitted High-waisted ripped jeans, and a Corset belt to elevate any look. Pastel co-ords are her go-to when she wants to look effortlessly glam. When asked about her fashion inspirations, she mentioned Blake Lively and Natasha Poonamwala, admiring their bossy and glamorous styles. Beyond fashion and entrepreneurship, Simran also emphasized the importance of self-care. She has been doing CrossFit for four years, which keeps her active and toned. Journaling and writing down affirmations are also part of her self-care routine. Simran shared some valuable advice for young creators as an influencer and entrepreneur. "Stay authentic instead of putting up content just for the sake of it," she said. "It's fine to take breaks and not post every day. Quality over quantity is crucial." She also emphasized the significance of sticking to one or two niches, which helps the audience connect better. Simran's message to the world reflects her compassionate and fearless nature. "Be kind and choose the right people to spend your time and energy with," she advised. She also urged everyone to express their opinions without fear and to keep experimenting without waiting for the "right time." Simran Mittal's journey is a testament to the power of passion, determination, and embracing unforeseen opportunities in the ever-evolving world of fashion and beauty. From facing rejection to becoming an influential entrepreneur, she has carved her own path, inspiring countless others. We couldn't help but be inspired by Simran's sheer determination and passion. Her journey from beauty pageants to becoming a successful entrepreneur showcases the power of believing in oneself and seizing opportunities that come our way. • Do I feel pretty?

by Neha Pande Do I feel pretty? 1 September 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Do I feel pretty? Do I love my looks? Miniskirt or Salwar Suit, which one should I choose? A women’s life is scandalous and decided by the way she dresses or looks, it is the harsh reality of the women beauty standards where aesthetics is everything. A judgmental world where lipsticks are more expensive than books because that’s how the society is, isn’t it? Makeup, surgery and the way I “should” dress, publicised through all social media making young girls think they are to look a certain way. Society has made it a norm for women to dress pretty with makeup done neatly and not to dress tomboyish as it is impolite for a girl to be dressed in men’s clothing. Funny thing is it doesn’t even matter if she’s perfect with beautiful skin and a neatly dressed or if she is tom boyishly dressed with bad skin, it doesn’t matter the amount or makeup she has on or does not because the society still will judge, it will still try to nit-pick on whatever they can. You may think if she’s in a Miniskirt people will drool over her and if she is in a Salwar Suit people might call her a ‘behenji’; to that, yes, that might happen with our society falling into the tracks of western culture people might like the miniskirt and beautifully done makeup better but salwar suit has its own charm and will also invite a lot of spectators. But it doesn’t matter if it’s a Salwar Suit or a Miniskirt as the female behind it will still be criticized, as if her change in size or dressing has let everyone down. Her body is caged in reviews and views with titles on her as if she’s a zoo animal, shouldn’t she be allowed to dress however she wants? Shouldn’t she wear as much makeup as she wants or not? Society may change with feminist movements going around the globe, this mentality might change and till then all we can do is to stop asking the question about which one is better, Miniskirt or Salwar Suit because it doesn’t really matter as we all are passengers of the same ship which is headed by the captain called “Society” and we all are suffering the same from the same judgment as others. • Anger and it’s ill effects

by Aparajita Jaiswal Anger and it’s ill effects 1 June 2021 LIFESTYLE Advertisement Anger, Setting You and Your Health at War. An insight into the effects of poorly managed anger upon mental and physical health. Anger, warmth, rage, aggression, something every human is acquainted with. People usually have many tales to narrate, either about themselves or about situations that went worse in a fit of anger. Anger is one of the emotions among the ocean of emotions that every human being deals with every single day. The personality of a person depends upon how he responds to his emotions, the way in which anger is managed to play a major part role. Like everything else in the world, anger has both the positives and the negatives, YET THE ILL EFFECTS OF ANGER ARE MORE EVIDENTLY KNOWN AND SEEN. If you are someone prone to losing temper, here’s why you need to stay calm. Anger, to a limited extent, is good and proves to be beneficial. It helps people think rationally and is a source of motivation for some of the people out there. The general fact is, anger can be good for you if addressed quickly and expressed in a healthy way. In reality, more often than not, anger proves to be hazardous and the ill effects of anger weigh a lot more than its positive effects. Anger does not just affect you but adversely affects the people around you as well. The unhealthy episodes of anger, when held for considerably longer periods, usually ends up as an explosion in rage and can wreak havoc on your body. Anger is a powerful emotion and thus has destructive effects when not handled appropriately. The underlying cause of such havoc lies in the fact that anger triggers the body’s “fight or flight” hormone, i.e., adrenal glands flood the blood with stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol. The brain consequently shunts blood away from the gut and towards the muscles as preparation for physical exertion. Thus, the heart rate, blood pressure and respiration increase. Skin perspires and body temperature also increases. This creates an image of a person in a fit of rage. An angry person is so rightly animated in cartoons or comics as someone who is grinding teeth, tightening arms with closed fists and fire used symbolizes the rise of temperature within and around the individual. The constant flow of stress hormones and the metabolic changes associated with seven major health issues that arise out of uncontrolled anger that one needs to know: Frequent outbursts put your heart at great risk: In words of Chris Aiken, MD, an instructor in clinical psychiatry at the wake Forest University School of Medicine and director of the Mood Treatment Center in Winston Salem, “In the two hours after an angry outburst, the chance of having a heart attack doubles.” “Repressed anger – where you express it indirectly or go to great lengths to control it, is associated with heart disease” Dr Aiken adds. Increases the stroke risk: If you’re prone to outburst, beware. A study suggests that the risk of a stroke from a blood clot to the brain or bleeding within the brain during the two hours after an outburst. Furthermore, the arteries of the brain are prone to six times higher risk of such bleeding. Weakens the immune system: The state of mind undoubtedly has a behavioral impact. If you are mad all the time, there is an obvious chance that you feel sick always. A fit of anger causes a dip in levels of the antibodies. Anxiety: Anxiety and anger go hand in hand. In a study carried out in 2021, researchers found that anger can exacerbate symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder characterized by an excessive and uncontrolled worry affecting an individual’s daily life. Depression: Anger in its elevated state, becomes a cause of self-destruction and adversely affects your loved ones as well and such destruction obviously becomes a cause of depression. Numerous studies have linked depression with aggression and angry outbursts. Effects on the lungs: Even if you aren’t a smoker, you can still hurt your lungs if you’re perpetually angry and a hostile person. Anger can shorten your life span: Scary, isn’t it? The fact that happy people live longer is really true. With anger, comes stress and stress is in every way harmful. The key to save yourself from such huge havoc and safeguard your health is to learn to appropriately express anger. The key to begin is to try and start calming yourself down. In case you find a difficult to deal with negative emotions or expressing anger, therapy and counseling will always help. Assertive communication, effective problem solving, using humor, or restricting your thoughts to get away from that black-and-white, all-or-nothing thinking are good ways to get over anger. Getting yourself involved in the activities that interest you so much and make you happy proves to be an effective measure as well. • Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern

by Aparajita Jaiswal Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern 16 July 2021 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement In India, this socially viable topic catches many eyeballs on discussion forums, political rallies and media galleries. We have often seen philanthropists, social entities or de crème de la crème of the society embellishing their views to fight for the profoundly rooted theories of Gender Equality, Equal participation, democratic decision making and most specifically Women Emancipation. But the recorded statistics provoke us to unleash the peel of these heated discussions which might sound very promising but lack the realistic angle. For instance, in many parts of our country sex ratio has dropped to fewer than 850 females per 1000 males. India is ranked 132 out of 148 countries on Gender Inequality Index as per the 2013 Global Human Development Report. The crimes against women fly directly against orchestrating women empowerment in India. A report on the crime against women by National Crime Records Bureau justifies the statement with some alarming facts and figures: Crime Head – % Variation in 2012 over 2011 Rape (Sec.376 IPC) – 3% Kidnapping & Abduction (Sec.363 to 373 IPC) – 7.6 % Torture (Sec.498-A IPC) – 7.5 % Dowry Death (Sec. 302/304 IPC) – 4.5 % Molestation (Sec.354 IPC) – 5.5 % Sexual Harassment (Sec. 509 IPC) – 7.0% Importation of Girls (Sec 366 – B IPC) – 26.3% This ironical phase of Women Empowerment is the central protagonist of our concern. We have a sense that holistic development cannot be imagined without the vigorous participation of women but like a silent admirer we are calmly supporting the fragmentary concept of Marginalization. No matter what our esteemed leaders said or done. But women have always been marginalized and ostracized as undesirable members of our society. No forum has been constructed to rationalize the Tag of “Second Citizen” which we bestow to this clique of women. Societal prism gives a stereotypical account of Empowerment which defines- “Empowerment” is the mere craftsmanship of an environment where women can make independent decisions on their personal development as well as shine as equals in society. But this definition does not channelize a concrete route which could actually lead women to this illusory environment. In spite of having epic discussion on this topic, this marginalized group is deprived of the mainstay of Empowerment i.e. Pride of Self Accomplishment and Self Supporting. Often Empowerment is seen as a force from the outer world like NGOs, Social groups or Govt. who stretches their hands to this neglected clan, but this disquieting issue cannot be faded without encouraging and developing skills for, Self Sufficiency, with a spotlight on eliminating the future need of any superficial assistance. For instance, instead of equipping them with peripheral aid, this band of victims must be encouraged to create their own non-profits organisation, using the rationale that only these marginalized people, themselves, can know their own people need most, that control of the organization must be centralized in their hands only. If women were empowered to take dynamic partaking in the organized sectors of the society, the possibility for economic growth becomes perceptible. Empowering women in developing countries is critical to curtail global poverty since women represent most of the world’s poor population. Eliminating a significant part of the nation’s workforce on the sole basis of gender can have detrimental effects on the economy of that nation. In addition, female participation in counsels, groups, and businesses is seen to aggrandize competence. For a general idea on how an empowered women can impact a framework monetarily, a study found that of Fortune 500 companies, “those with more women board directors had significantly higher financial returns, including 53% higher returns on equity, 24% higher return on sales and 67% higher returns on invested capital (OECD, 2008).This study shows the impression that women can have all round economic benefits of a Co. If implemented strategically on a global scale, the inclusion of women in the formal workforce can provide an edge to the economic productivity of a nation. But as discussed in the initial episodes of this article, there are several challenges that are currently plaguing the issues of women’s rights in India. The native goal of empowerment can only be achieved by targeting these issues. Studies of this paradigm say – Education is the core element that can either make or mar the authenticity of empowerment. While the country has grown from leaps and bounds since its independence where education is concerned, the gap between women and men is ruthless. While 82.14% of adult men are educated, only 65.46% of adult women are known to be literate in India. Not only is an illiterate woman damsels in distress but aloof from the errands of this cosmetic world. Additionally, the norms of culture that title the man as the alpha and omega of family decisions are gradually spoiling the society of the country. Poverty is considered the greatest threat to peace in the world, and due to hopeless poverty, women are exploited as domestic helps and wives whose incomes are usurped by the man of the house. Even the horrifying reality of sex slaves are a direct outcome of poverty only. The third pal of these two unpromising causes is Health & Safety. The health & safety concern of women are paramount for the wellbeing of a country, and most importantly a vital factor in gauging the empowerment of women in a country. However there are threatening statistics where maternal healthcare is concerned In its 2009 report, UNICEF came up with shocking figures on the status of Indian mothers in India. The maternal mortality report of India stands at 301 per 1000, with as many as 78000 women in India dying of childbirth complications in that year. We can’t deny that there are several series of programmes that have been set into motion by the Govt. and several NGOs in the country to bridge up the dead pan gap between these gender conflicts but these external bodies can only conceal the problem. If we really want to get liberated of this dual world in terms of Gender, then, the strapping pole of Marginalization must be shunned and men oriented fiefdom syndrome must be broken into unbreakable pieces. In short, Empowerment is not an ostentatious or grandiloquence portrayal of outer self but an honest urge to get unshackled from the rotten dogmas of society and earn the power of “Self”. • A Brief History on Alexander McQueen

by Akash Khatri A Brief History on Alexander McQueen 1 January 2021 FASHION Advertisement If you are fond of premium fashion labels and well aware of the high-level fashion brands then you must be well acquainted with the Alexander McQueen label. The first genuine curiosity for the ones who are not familiar with this name would be who is Alexander McQueen? Alexander McQueen was a famous British fashion designer who brought a revolution in the fashion industry with his rebellious fashion innovations back in the 1980s. He got himself in the fashion industry quite early in his life but soon his flamboyant and out-of-the-box and bold fashion styles brought him under the spotlight. McQueen’s early runway collections developed his reputation for controversy and shock tactics with trousers aptly named “bumsters” and a collection titled “Highland Rape”. These collections had also made people from the Brit fashion industry cringe, but eventually, his talent prevailed, and he became known for his dramatic and extraordinary fashion shows and cat-walks which were sheer head-turners for everyone. He was also one of the first fashion designers who worked with Indian models in London. Some of McQueen’s accomplishments included being one of the youngest designers to achieve the title “British Designer of the Year”, which he won four times between 1996 and 2003 also he was into a partnership deal with the Gucci group and his own label which he founded in the year 1992. By the end of the year 2007, McQueen had his own fashion house established in the cities of London, New York, Los Angeles, Milan, and Las Vegas. Coming to his personal life, he was gay and quite vocal about his sexuality and he never hid anything from the world. But in his later life, he became addicted to drugs and even was depressed. In February 2010 he hanged himself in his home in London and left the entire world in shock and remorse. His psychologists said that he was into depression for three years consecutively and as an escapade, he was into heavy drugs. At the time of Alexander McQueen’s death, he had an eighty percent finished Autumn/Winter collection. 16 pieces of this collection were presented during Paris Fashion Week on 8 March 2010 as a tribute to this great fashion designer. No prizes for guessing; it’s the internet! We can’t get enough of this world of the digital vortex. Thus, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that we have become captive of internet technology to the point where we need a digital detox from time to time or let it take the better of us. Let’s accept that traditional ways of paying bills, playing games (we mean outdoors), calling people, clicking photographs, etc., are so old school! While we cannot go back to standing in lines for hours to pay the bills, we can certainly apply some old-school charm to our travels. Back in the day, travelers and explorers only had winds or maps to guide them to a new destination – and they hardly ever faltered! So, we at L’utopia, decided to take you back to the good days when nobody knew the word digital and yet traveled far and around the globe! The article will help you understand why a digital travel detox is an absolute necessity in the current world and how to switch to the old-world travel patterns so that the next time you go on a trip, you can re-discover the charm and beauty; of old-school travel! Why Go for a digital detox? When was the last time you unplugged from your cell phone/laptop/social media for 24 hours? If your answer is, ‘I don’t know,’ you, my friend, need a digital detox. Every time we get out of control with the consumption of complex carbohydrates and gain a few extra pounds, we detoxify our bodies. In the same way, we can rely on the old-school ways to give our eyes some rest and break from the digital hullaballoo to get our minds back in their original shape. We believe that the best way to do the same is while wandering in the hills or enjoying a traditional meal with our family in a hotel away from social media and its charm - that’s when you enjoy your freedom! A vacation or a trip to your favorite destination without the stress of keeping up with social media or receiving urgent calls will make your trip worthwhile when you avoid tapping on your phone’s screen for no reason. It saves your time and energy. Ah! You’ve no idea how amazing this feeling is, and the result is extraordinary - unfiltered freedom! How to Begin with the digital detox? You can always start with limiting your use of social media – start with an hour or so and bring it down to 20 minutes a day or however it deems fit. Cut down the time of using social media with each passing day. Before setting off for your retreat, ensure you have sent all the important emails and messages and informed your friends and colleagues about the same. Also, you can provide a contact number of the hotel you’ll be staying in so that you can be contacted in case there’s an urgency. Next, you can start wearing a watch on your way out so that you break the habit of looking at your phone. Before leaving for the airport or station: Book your hotel. Get your reservations. Write down the hotel’s address. Ask the staff how to reach the hotel from the airport/station. Finally, make your travel itinerary and jot down the necessary details about the place you’re visiting so that it becomes easy for you to enjoy your time off without stressing over issues regarding where to go and how to reach there, etc. Even your hotel staff can help you with places to visit during your stay but be sure that the information you have collected is correct. How to switch from digital/online tools to old school club? Now that you’re ready to take your digital detox vacation, here are a few non-digital tools that can replace the digital ones and turn you to transform you into a total traditional traveler! Use printed maps instead of GPS- Remember that GPS will be gone when you say goodbye to your smartphone and laptops. So, try and get yourself a street map to figure out the directions to reach your hotel + other places you want to visit. It isn’t that a big task to find a map. However, trying to learn the direction on the printed maps sure is. So, if the map doesn’t work well for you, it’s better to ask for directions from locals. Payphone instead of cell phone (or borrow a phone) - As fun as it sounds, finding a working payphone in today’s world can be hectic. If you’re going for full detox, better borrow a phone to make a call. If you want to go off-grid, you’ll have to face a little uneasiness on your way, but it will add to your great memories, and trust us when we tell you that it will all be completely worth it! Browse the wilderness instead of the internet - Keep your mind off of sending a text, making a call, updating your status, or anything that involves using your phone or laptop and taking in the fresh air of the wilderness! Pay your attention to exploring a new area and absorb the beauty of lush green forests brimming with tropical trees, rambling waterfalls, infinite wild, usual bazaar scenes, delicious food, and rich culture. Send postcards to your loved ones - We agreed on no cell phones while on the trip, but if you miss your friends and family, send them some beautiful postcards of the city/place you’re vacationing. Just go to the nearby Post Office, get it stamped, and send it. Let travel agents take care of your business - Free yourself from the stress of booking tickets, hotels, getting reservations, etc., and contact a travel agent to do that job for you. Technology has made us self-sufficient to get our bookings done, but since you’re going off the grid, it is advisable to rely on a good travel agent. Take a lot of books with you - Purposelessly tapping your phone screen is a great time-killer. So, when you don’t have it, you would understand that you need to direct your attention toward something else. It is thus, suggested to bring lots of books/magazines to read while you’re on a total digital blackout. If you like e-books, well, you must re-acquaint yourself with that sweet old smell of printed books, and if you are a reader, you might not want to switch back to e-reading again! Try it! Jot down important contacts - Whatever you do, DO NOT forget to write down a few important contact numbers before leaving your home. You’re visiting a new place and plan to stay in a new environment for quite a while. So, you must keep these numbers with you all the time - it’s even better if you memorize them! Also, don’t forget to include the number of the hotel you’ll be staying in. So, keep that cell phone away, close the lid of your laptop, put that camera down and unplug yourself from the digital world! Now, pack your bags and leave for your next travel destination as an authentic explorer, and soon you’ll find a connection far better than the one you share with the internet! You can never see enough of the world with a smartphone that has a working internet connection. So, the next time you visit a new place, remember to keep it away and soak in the present moment. Blob - The beauty of old-world travel cannot be compared to the digital tours and trips. The charm and beauty of using a map to reach your destination brings tremendous joy to the explorer or wanderer - the same cannot be said in the case of a digital vagabond since there is no actual work done on their part to find that cafe, or that hill, or beach and so on. Maybe, it is time to ditch your digital tools and go on your next trip in the good old-fashioned way, and we will show you how! #DigitalDetoxTravel #TravellerWithoutPhone #DigitalDetox #TravelIsLife #NoPhoneTravel #OldSchoolTravel SEARCH 7 Abandoned Cities In India And Abroad That Are Too Beautiful To Be Forgotten TRAVEL Blue Lagoon – Iceland TRAVEL Palm Islands TRAVEL WORLD PEACE DOME TRAVEL Blood Falls In Antarctica: Explained TRAVEL POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Chiang Mai Is So Unrealistically Magical; And Here Is Why 28 June 2024 TRAVEL By Anushka Sharma Lakshadweep Is A Heaven In Disguise And Here Is Why 3 April 2024 TRAVEL By Anushka Sharma If Uzbekistan Isn’t On Your Travel List, Here Is Exactly Why It Should Be 21 March 2024 TRAVEL By Anushka Sharma The Fashion Capitals Of Asia: Exploring Style Beyond Borders 19 March 2024 TRAVEL RELATED POSTS

  • Festival of Stones

by Neha Pande Festival of Stones 27 July 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Bagwal also known as DevidhuraFair is celebrated at Maa Varahi Devi Temple in Devidhura located at a distance of 45km from Lohaghat in the Champawat district of Uttarakhand. Devidhura also marks the tri-junction of Almora, Pithoragarh and Nainital districts and is famous for its rich cultural fair that is celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm. This fair is celebrated every year during Rakshabandhan that falls on the full moon day of the month of Shravan. Thousands of people from Uttarakhand and Nepal come to visit this grand fair. Bagwal is celebrated by dividing four different groups, collectively known as ‘Khams’. The four groups are four different tribes – Gharwal Kham, Chamyal Kham, Lamgriha Kham and Valig Kham. The fair starts out with the worship of Goddess Varahi, after the worship Prasad is distributed and this is when everything gets a bit tricky. The members of each Kham position themselves on the four corners of the field of the temple and the priest commences the festival with the sound of the ‘shankh’/shell. Bagwal is no normal festival with just worship and joy but here the Khams are fighters who carry sticks, stones and a farra/shield for the fight. These fighters throw stones at one another while at the same time protecting themselves with the shield. It does not matter how wounded or injured they get, the fight does not stop till the priest concludes the fight with the sound of the ‘shankh’. While the fight is going on the rest of the attendees cheer their teams with fight drums, folk songs and folk dances. After the fight all the injured are treated with ‘bichchu grass’ ie. Urtica Dioca. The Myth behind the Bagwal festival:- According to the myth, there once was a tradition of sacrificing a man (Narbali) from the Kham each year to Goddess Varahi. On one such year, it was the turn of this old woman to sacrifice her grandson, with a heavy heart and mind full of devotion she prepared her grandson for the sacrifice. This touched the Goddess’s heart and she spared his life under the condition that an equal amount of blood should be offered to her. Since that day, Bagwal fair is celebrated by the people where the members of each Kham throw stones at each other in order to draw sacrificial blood for Goddess Varahi. Reason for taking this Cultural Fair :- The main reason I choose to write upon Bagwal cultural fair is because my hometown is in Uttarakhand and I also wanted to address the issue of ‘Bali’/Sacrifice. Sacrificing animals as well as people have been going on in our religion as well as many other religions since the dawn of time; from Mayan, Pagan, Hinduism, Muslim etc. Sacrifice or ‘Bali’ in Hindu religion has its own significance, it is symbolic of getting rid of 6 evil forces/enemies ie. Kama– Lust Krodha – Anger Lobha–Greed Mada– Pride Moha – Attachments Matsarya – Jealousy By the sacrificial festival of Bagwal the basic idea of sacrificing men or animals was stopped yet the sacrificial blood was spilled by the act of fighting and throwing stones at each other. Our culture and heritage is one of the oldest; yet, I wanted to showcase some of the flaws in it which have changed and evolved but are still there. In August 2019, 100 men got injured under 10 minutes while celebrating Bagwal in Champwant district, Uttarakhand on Thursday. Even though the human sacrifice was stopped yet, hundreds of people got injured which is not a small thing. This is just one small case, there are many more cases tied up to this festival. Even though there is a high court ban on the use of stones during the festival yet the locals seem to sneak in with stones while outsmarting the authorities.Even a lot of local authorities encourage this practice instead of putting a stop on it. I personally believe that the concept behind ‘Bali’ is not bad because every Dussehra we burn Ravan as a sign of victory of good over evil, just like that ‘Bali’ is the concept of sacrificing 6 evils to the goddess yet the literal concept of ‘Bali’ ie. To sacrifice a living breathing creature or to injure one another is completely wrong. God didn’t make us to harm each other therefore the literal concept of ‘Bali’ should be condemned just like the literal practice of Bagwal should be put to an end. The ideology, unlike the festival, should carry on and pass on from generation to generation. Bagwal is a beautiful festival from Kumaon, Uttarakhand which should be celebrated with joy and enthusiasm, without harming each other as the concept of Bagwal is beautiful just like the myth. Bagwal is the story of love and sacrifice therefore it should be practiced with love and sacrifice of our inner demons instead of throwing stones towards each other to draw out blood as a symbol. The festival is a perfect blend of folk songs, folk dances and folklores. And just like Bagwal our country has hundreds of festivals and practices with a beautiful story but an unlikely tragic execution. #MohaAttachments #Myth #6evilforcesenemiesie #Devidhurafair #Tribal #Regionalfestival #IndianMyths #Indianfestival #MaaVarahiDeviTemple #Bagwalfestival #MatsaryaJealousy #Champawatdistrict #KrodhaAnger #Shravan #Sacrifice #Culturalfair #Lohaghat #IndianRitual #Uttarakhand #LobhaGreed #MaaVarahi #KamaLust #Rituals #Bali #Khams #MadaPride #Rakshabandhan SEARCH Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern SOCIETY Looking Through The Excellence Of ‘Jaali’ Architecture SOCIETY Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing SOCIETY Festival of Stones SOCIETY The Pygmalion Effect SOCIETY POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Uniting Voices, Shaping Futures: Dive Into Mun 2.0 At NIT Patna 8 September 2024 SOCIETY By Anushka Sharma These Healthy Habits Can Lower Your Risk Of Depression 31 August 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak A Glance In The Kshitij’23: A Euphoric Escapade 26 January 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak Mithibai Kshitij: Epitome Of Diverse Social Cause Empowerment 24 January 2024 SOCIETY RELATED POSTS

  • The Mind-Blowing History Of Butter Chicken

By Anushka Sharma The Mind-Blowing History Of Butter Chicken 27 March 2024 FOOD Advertisement Advertisement Picture this: A vibrant, aromatic journey through the heart of India's culinary landscape, where every bite tells a story, and every dish is a celebration of flavor. While butter chicken might steal the spotlight on the global stage, let's peel back the layers of India's culinary kaleidoscope to discover a world of flavors beyond the creamy confines of this beloved dish. Flavors Galore: India isn't just about butter chicken; it's a culinary wonderland bursting with a riot of flavors from north to south and east to west. Imagine the fiery spices of a Punjabi curry, the fragrant aromas of a Hyderabadi biryani, or the delicate sweetness of a Bengali dessert. Each region boasts its own culinary signature, making every meal a delightful adventure. The Mystery of Butter Chicken's Origins: The dual dispute! Ah, the age-old question: who invented butter chicken? Was it Kundan Lal Gujral, the visionary behind Moti Mahal restaurant in Delhi, or Kundan Lal Jaggi, the culinary maestro stirring up magic in the kitchen? The truth may be lost to history, but one thing's for sure: butter chicken's journey from humble beginnings to global fame is a testament to its irresistible charm. From Naans to Noodles: We have seen it all! Butter chicken isn't just confined to a plate of steaming hot naans (though that's a classic combo). Oh no, this versatile dish has gone on a culinary adventure of its own, popping up in pasta bowls, topping pizzas, filling samosas, and even making cameo appearances in tacos. It's like the ultimate culinary chameleon, blending seamlessly with whatever cuisine it encounters. Here’s to The Great Tikka Masala Debate: And let's not forget about its close cousin, chicken tikka masala. Is it Indian? Is it British? Who cares when it's this delicious! Legend has it that this dish was born out of a happy accident in a Glasgow restaurant, where tandoori chicken met tomato soup and sparks flew. Regardless of its origins, chicken tikka masala has become a beloved comfort food around the world. All about A Dash of Spice and a Pinch of Sweetness: What's the secret to butter chicken's universal appeal? Some say it's the perfect balance of spices, while others swear by its subtle sweetness. And let's not forget about the rich, velvety tomato base that ties it all together. Whether you like it spicy or sweet, creamy or tangy, there's a butter chicken out there for everyone. The Very Global Butter Chicken Mania: From Dallas to Dubai, New York to New Delhi, butter chicken fever is spreading like wildfire. Home cooks are whipping up instant pot versions, restaurants are putting their own spin on the classic recipe, and supermarkets are stocking up on ready-to-eat meal boxes for eager foodies. It's a butter chicken bonanza, and everyone's invited to the party! So, the next time you find yourself craving a taste of India, remember that butter chicken is just the tip of the culinary iceberg. Dive deeper into the rich tapestry of Indian cuisine, explore new flavors and ingredients, and let your taste buds embark on a flavor-filled adventure like never before. After all, in the world of Indian food, every bite is a journey, and every meal is a celebration of life's delicious diversity.
