- How can antidepressants affect your life?
by Anadi Gupta How can antidepressants affect your life? 1 December 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement If your illness is being treated, taking an antidepressant may be a part of your treatment plan. Antidepressants work by balancing the chemicals in your brain which are called neurotransmitters that affect mood and emotions. Taking these medications can help in improving your mood, sleeping better and can also affect your appetite and concentration. If you are taking antidepressants then the first thing you need to know is that how can it affect your living. It may also happen that sometimes you are in trouble and antidepressants won’t work for you, it may affect you unfairly. If you do not see any change in your mood after a few weeks, then it is important to talk to your doctor about this. Many times it happens that the antidepressant you are taking first does not show any result but after some time, using another can benefit. This is seen in 50% of the people. Depression can be treated with medication or counseling. Sometimes both are used. Talk to your doctor to find out what will work best for you. Seek help from your doctor to learn about medicines called antidepressants. Never hesitate in asking for help and always remember that you are not alone. #depression #Antidepressants #Anxiety #Mentalhealth #selfcare SEARCH Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern SOCIETY Looking Through The Excellence Of ‘Jaali’ Architecture SOCIETY Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing SOCIETY Festival of Stones SOCIETY The Pygmalion Effect SOCIETY POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Uniting Voices, Shaping Futures: Dive Into Mun 2.0 At NIT Patna 8 September 2024 SOCIETY By Anushka Sharma These Healthy Habits Can Lower Your Risk Of Depression 31 August 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak A Glance In The Kshitij’23: A Euphoric Escapade 26 January 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak Mithibai Kshitij: Epitome Of Diverse Social Cause Empowerment 24 January 2024 SOCIETY RELATED POSTS
- WORLD PEACE DOME
by Akash Khatri WORLD PEACE DOME 1 November 2020 TRAVEL Advertisement Advertisement World peace dome stands tall at 263 feet with a diameter of 160 feet. The height of the dome is 96 feet, whereas total height from ground to apex is 263 feet. The sitting area inside is spread over to 20,000 sq. feet and total seating capacity is 3000. This is one of the important architectural wonder which was completed in the year 2018 and was accomplished through 15 years of perseverance and dedication of thousands of people. This epitome of wonder is located in Maharashtra, India and is dedicated for ‘World Peace and Humanity’ regardless of the fact that India ranks 141 in GPI (Global Peace Index); ranks 133 in peace and security index ,one of the least safe countries for women and has many disputes related to religion, castes going on from years mainly rooting from politics that we often come across regularly. It often leaves me wondering, have the virtual and showcasing world really overpowered us so well and establishing its roots among us so powerfully that we actually believe that buildings and statues representing peace, humanity and unity can make this place or this world better for us? Do we actually believe that burying and not talking about the flaws can disparage them in long terms? This world peace dome left me bamboozled and thinking if it represents the modern world where only fake ways of life is sold rather than just peace and humanity. Metaphorically speaking, if this world peace dome or several structures built like this or are in disputes to be built in future can actually establish a system where the ways of real upbringings, real meaning of life can be shown, where it is explained enough to soak in through the bones that life is more than just ‘representing’ or sugar coating ‘ugly truths’ but these representatives are quoting opposite lessons. Nothing can be a representative of anything if the mirror of that particular place it is built in, is saying something else. Granted it can attract tourism and thus can help in boosting Indian economy in one way or the other but outsiders are really attracted to the Indian culture they found some kind of treasury in, which we are continuously letting to slip away from us! Disguise cannot be put forth longer and the practical perks could exhaust soon if we continue to hide under the films of silver linings. - Coping with Confinement
by Akash Khatri Coping with Confinement 26 July 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement The earlier days of the pandemic caused a furore and great hullabulla. Great chaos everywhere, no school, no maids, work from home and still ambiguous about the situation ahead as we approach towards the end of lockdown four. During this whole topsy turvy journey gradually it seems we have become more human. A transition from a dependant to a more independent working – subtracting the maids and a more gadget-free atmosphere. During this whole transition period, I treasured dormant talent of my personality, as I could steal some time for trying out solo singing, penning down my thoughts to create short stories, experimenting in the kitchen and even nailed the unusual skill of giving men a haircut. Today I had lessons of stitching from my mom-in-law and found that it’s not that tedious and tricky as I had thought, of course, one needs to be lucky to have a good teacher beside you as my MIL is. I tried my hand on tailoring too, thanks to the lockdown. All and all it’s so much fun being indoors with family, doing crazy things and enjoying the nearness, attention as well as helping hand of the spouse. Above all, the level of tolerance has reached its acme and this habit I would always wish could be deep-rooted within me forever. At last, it took a microscopic-organism to make us more human. #LockdownPandemicIndependentConfinement SEARCH Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern SOCIETY Looking Through The Excellence Of ‘Jaali’ Architecture SOCIETY Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing SOCIETY Festival of Stones SOCIETY The Pygmalion Effect SOCIETY POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Uniting Voices, Shaping Futures: Dive Into Mun 2.0 At NIT Patna 8 September 2024 SOCIETY By Anushka Sharma These Healthy Habits Can Lower Your Risk Of Depression 31 August 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak A Glance In The Kshitij’23: A Euphoric Escapade 26 January 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak Mithibai Kshitij: Epitome Of Diverse Social Cause Empowerment 24 January 2024 SOCIETY RELATED POSTS

- The Lockdown Masks
by Aiyra Baig The Lockdown Masks 1 November 2020 FASHION Advertisement During these trying times, skincare seems like a great idea. All these days at home are actually a blessing for our skin; no dust, dirt, travelling, pollution, junk food or the harsh sun. Therefore, no damage and happy skin. With all the extra time at hand, go an extra mile and pamper your face with some homemade face masks made from ingredients you can find in your kitchen cabinet. Grandma’s secret – Besan Face mask Mix besan (split chickpea flour) with a pinch of turmeric, milk and rose water. Scrub it on your face in a circular motion and wait for it to dry. Rinse with close water in 5-10 minutes. Besan helps to absorb excess oil from the skin including impurities while also retaining moisture. Caffeine Hydration Mix one tablespoon each of coffee powder and honey well together. Apply and wash it off after 10 minutes. Coffee is rich in antioxidants, kills cells and removes impurities, making the skin smoother and brighter. It is also an excellent exfoliator and helps in stimulating blood flow, which reduces acne and even cellulite and stretch marks. Honey acts as a moisturizer and diminishes signs of ageing. Bright Banana (*not for oily skin) Mash a ripe banana and mix it with a little bit of honey. Apply it on your face and wash off after 15 minutes. Banana is rich in potassium and helps to moisture and hydrate dry skin, making it soft and supple. It also lightens dark spots. The 101 cure mask Mix freshly prepared aloe vera gel with fresh cucumber paste/juice, yoghurt and honey. Cleanse your face and leave this face mask for 20-30 minutes. Using this twice a week helps to detan your skin. Aloe vera also has antibacterial properties which helps to treat pimples and acne, giving a smooth skin texture. it also lightens your skin and removes blemishes and dark spots, effectively de-pigmenting your skin. Egg peel off Add a few drops of lemon juice to an egg-white mix well. Apply it well over your face and neck, wait for it to dry and peel it off with water. Egg whites shrinks your pores, firms your skin by removing excess dirt, oil and dead cells on your face while also removing blackheads. Lemon juice naturally contains vitamin C, an antioxidant that may help reduce skin damage and premature ageing. Due to its high pH levels, it has astringent qualities; lemon can decrease oil on the skin and reduce inflammation. Oat scrub Make a smooth paste by mixing oatmeal, honey and rosewater. Scrub it well and leave it on for ten minutes before rinsing with water. Oatmeal contains antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds that soothe itchy, dry and irritated skin. This face mask gives you instant radiant-looking skin. #impurities #cells #supple #eggwhite #rosewater #blemishes #honey #moisture #irritated #banana #tumeric #brighter #stimulating #milk #dryskin #clean #lighten #exfoliator #pamper #blackheads #acne #itchy #damage #pores #yoghurt #smoother #skincare #shrink #dark #soft #oatmeal #pimples #oil #kitchen #flow #coffee #ingredients #besan #detan #radiant #antibacterial #lemon #hydrate #spots #skin #cucumber #ageing #inflammation #facemask #blood SEARCH The Rich Heritage of Indian Handloom FASHION Fashion In The 19th Century FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION The Influence Of Kanye West On Fashion FASHION K-Pop Fashion And Its Impact On Global Wardrobe FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Dubai Fashion Week Day Five: Emerging Talents, Cultural Heritage, And Global Fashion Dialogues 14 September 2024 FASHION By Anushka Sharma Marina Ignjat: A Journey Through Style And Travel 13 September 2024 FASHION By Anushka Sharma Anaya Collection Unveils "Gaudí’s Reverie" At Dubai Fashion Week: A Fusion Of Love, Technique, And Playful Elegance 11 September 2024 FASHION By Anushka Sharma Hebajasmi Unveils Captivating New Collection For SS25: A Masterpiece Of Art And Fashion 10 September 2024 FASHION RELATED POSTS
- Into The Enticing and Harmful World of Fast Fashion
by Rupashree Ravi Into The Enticing and Harmful World of Fast Fashion 13 August 2022 FASHION Advertisement What comes to your mind when someone says trendy, fashionable, and affordable? Of course, big brands like H&M, Zara, Forever 21, and Shein, which are widely popular and are known for their cheap and fashionable clothing. These are clothing giants that entice their loyal customer base with sales and exciting offers, and you cannot say no to them. But the cost of making these clothes comes at a heavy price. These brands are the biggest players in the fashion industry and are also among the most damaging industries for the environment. They are fast fashion retailers who bring out large quantities of a variety of products and allow consumers to get more fashion and product differentiation at a very low price. Stores like Zara, Forever 21 and H&M are the pioneers of fast fashion in the 21st century ‘Fast fashion’ is cheaply manufactured and low priced garments that copy the latest catwalk styles and get quick entry into retail stores in order to maximise on the current fashion trends. It is called the fast fashion model because it involves rapid design, mass production, and distribution as well as heavy marketing. Today, it takes less than fifteen days for a garment to move from the design stage to being sold physically in stores. The term has gained more prominence in recent times and is often used in conversations revolving around environmental consciousness as well as sustainability. This is extremely worrisome because the fashion industry, especially since the rise of fast fashion, has become the second largest consumer of water and is responsible for 10 per cent of carbon emissions and 20 per cent of wastewater globally. It also dries up water sources and pollutes waterways. This is because these fast fashion retailers use about 700 gallons of water to make one cotton shirt and about 2,000 gallons to make one pair of jeans. Moreover, the textile dyes that they use contribute to polluting these waterways as the chemicals leak into the water, which also poses health risks to the general population. Fast fashion has been growing at an unsustainable rate These brands also use synthetic fibres like polyester, nylon and acrylic which take several years to biodegrade. The fast fashion model is also an energy-intensive process. Even cotton is not an environment-friendly fabric to manufacture for fast fashion companies as they are exposed to a number of pesticides that are very harmful. So, what’s the solution? The alternative to fast fashion is sustainable fashion or eco-fashion. To counter the environmental damage caused by fast fashion, sustainable fabrics like wild silk, organic cotton, hemp, linen, and lyocell can be used in a responsible manner. We can certainly choose to shop in a more sustainable way, but getting involved with sustainable fashion does not necessarily require buying anything new. Sustainable fashion aims to be conscious and ethical Sustainable fashion brands like Brogger, Insom, Ka-Sha focus on bringing out cruelty-free products. They use fewer resources wherever possible to reduce impact and conserve water by using organic mills and ozone technology in its production to benefit people, plants, and animals. Some of these brands also give away their profits to charitable causes. Even vegan leather has become very popular in recent times. Local Indie fashion brands are becoming popular It is essential that we as consumers stop buying from these fast fashion companies and instead choose locally produced garments. Try opting for local Indian brands like Udd Stories or Anokhi that are made by indigenous communities. #FastFashion #SustainableFashion #EcoFashion #VocalForLocal #OOTD SEARCH The Rich Heritage of Indian Handloom FASHION Fashion In The 19th Century FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION The Influence Of Kanye West On Fashion FASHION K-Pop Fashion And Its Impact On Global Wardrobe FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Dubai Fashion Week Day Five: Emerging Talents, Cultural Heritage, And Global Fashion Dialogues 14 September 2024 FASHION By Anushka Sharma Marina Ignjat: A Journey Through Style And Travel 13 September 2024 FASHION By Anushka Sharma Anaya Collection Unveils "Gaudí’s Reverie" At Dubai Fashion Week: A Fusion Of Love, Technique, And Playful Elegance 11 September 2024 FASHION By Anushka Sharma Hebajasmi Unveils Captivating New Collection For SS25: A Masterpiece Of Art And Fashion 10 September 2024 FASHION RELATED POSTS
- Blood Falls In Antarctica: Explained
by Aishwarya Blood Falls In Antarctica: Explained 11 February 2023 TRAVEL Advertisement Advertisement You might have heard about waterfalls, but have you heard about blood falls? Yes, as creepy and scary as it sounds, blood falls isn’t blood falling from a cliff. Blood falls is situated in Antarctica, the ice-covered continent of the earth. While many researchers are keen on researching and preventing this ice-covered continent, some of them found out that this blood-red colour waterfall has no explanation for its colour. Antarctica is the coldest place on the planet, and the average annual temperature around the Blood Falls is around -17 degrees. This area is located within Victoria Land, west of McMurdo Sound. Now, you might be thinking if we can visit Blood Falls. Well, to answer that, Atlas Obscura has said that Blood Falls can only be reached by helicopter from the McMurdo Station (U.S.). The colour of the Blood Falls was initially identified as red algae . Now, a study in the Journal of Glaciology has revealed the true origin of Blood Falls with the help of radar to scan the layers of ice from which the river pours. The deep red fall was discovered in the year 1911 when scientists noticed a river that stained the surrounding cliff of ice with a dark red colour. Though the theory behind the red colour was believed to be the effect of algae, thanks to research by the University of Alaska Fairbanks , which revealed the true origin of Blood Falls. The study boils down to describing the red colour of the oxidized iron in brine saltwater, the same process that gives the iron a dark red colour when it rusts. The research team obtained the glacier using radio-echo sounding to map out the features below the glacier. The super-saturated brine that makes up the river allows the stark density contrast in RES compared to non-saline ice. The research team also calculated that the water approximately takes 1.5 million years to finally reach Blood Falls as it makes its way through fissures and channels in the glacier. You might think that the water would be frozen in place as it sits below a thick layer of ice. However, many aspects allow the water to remain liquid. One of the many aspects is the release of latent heat associated with water freezing, this low amount of heat contributes to keeping the water as a liquid. Furthermore, the water super-saturated with salt freezes at a lower temperature than fresh water. Another interesting fact is that Blood Falls also contains microbes that can survive in extreme conditions. These microbial communities can live with sulfates in the water. They provide hints on how life could have developed on other plants that lack oxygen. The Blood Falls in Antartica is no less than a miracle. It is full of new discoveries and mysteries. We need to be more careful with our environment, as there are more such amazing things to discover, before destroying them. The colour of the Blood Falls was initially identified as red algae . - How Do Some People Not Get Acne No Matter What
By Anushka Sharma How Do Some People Not Get Acne No Matter What 15 April 2024 LIFESTYLE Advertisement Hey there! Let's dive into the intriguing world of acne and why some folks seem to dodge it altogether. Acne is like that unwelcome guest who shows up uninvited, but while most people deal with it at some point, others breeze through life with clear skin. What's their secret? Let's find out! Blame It on the Genes: Yep, it's all in the genes! If your parents or close family members battled acne, chances are it might come knocking on your door too. But it's not just about inheriting a single "acne gene." Your genetic makeup decides how sensitive your skin is to hormones and environmental stuff, and how good it is at fighting off acne-causing germs. Hormones, Hormones, Hormones: Now, let's talk about those pesky hormones. During puberty, your body goes into overdrive with hormones like testosterone (yep, even girls have it!). These hormones love to crank up oil production in your skin, leading to clogged pores and zits. Teens often get pimples in the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin), while adults, especially ladies, might see them pop up around the cheeks and jawline. Sweat and Junk Food: Picture this: you're smashing it at the gym, but then, bam! Acne decides to crash the party. Sweat mixed with tight workout gear can create a cozy environment for acne-causing bacteria. So, wear comfy, breathable clothes and shower right after sweating it out. And when it comes to food, greasy, sugary, and fast food might be tasty, but they can also fuel acne. A balanced diet with lots of good stuff can help keep those pimples at bay. Stress Messes Things Up: Life can get stressful, right? But did you know stress can mess with your skin too? When you're stressed, your body releases a hormone called cortisol, which tells your skin to produce more oil. More oil means more chances for acne to crash the party. So, find ways to chill out, like deep breathing, going for a walk, or chatting with a friend. The Big Finish: So, there you have it! While some lucky ducks seem to breeze through life without a pimple in sight, most of us have to deal with acne at some point. But understanding why it happens and taking care of your skin can help keep those pesky pimples at bay. So, whether you're blessed with clear skin or fighting off zits left and right, remember: taking care of your skin is always a good idea!
