- Coping with Confinement
by Akash Khatri Coping with Confinement 26 July 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement The earlier days of the pandemic caused a furore and great hullabulla. Great chaos everywhere, no school, no maids, work from home and still ambiguous about the situation ahead as we approach towards the end of lockdown four. During this whole topsy turvy journey gradually it seems we have become more human. A transition from a dependant to a more independent working – subtracting the maids and a more gadget-free atmosphere. During this whole transition period, I treasured dormant talent of my personality, as I could steal some time for trying out solo singing, penning down my thoughts to create short stories, experimenting in the kitchen and even nailed the unusual skill of giving men a haircut. Today I had lessons of stitching from my mom-in-law and found that it’s not that tedious and tricky as I had thought, of course, one needs to be lucky to have a good teacher beside you as my MIL is. I tried my hand on tailoring too, thanks to the lockdown. All and all it’s so much fun being indoors with family, doing crazy things and enjoying the nearness, attention as well as helping hand of the spouse. Above all, the level of tolerance has reached its acme and this habit I would always wish could be deep-rooted within me forever. At last, it took a microscopic-organism to make us more human. #LockdownPandemicIndependentConfinement SEARCH Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern SOCIETY Looking Through The Excellence Of ‘Jaali’ Architecture SOCIETY Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing SOCIETY Festival of Stones SOCIETY The Pygmalion Effect SOCIETY POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Uniting Voices, Shaping Futures: Dive Into Mun 2.0 At NIT Patna 8 September 2024 SOCIETY By Anushka Sharma These Healthy Habits Can Lower Your Risk Of Depression 31 August 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak A Glance In The Kshitij’23: A Euphoric Escapade 26 January 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak Mithibai Kshitij: Epitome Of Diverse Social Cause Empowerment 24 January 2024 SOCIETY RELATED POSTS
- Social deprivation
by Akash Khatri Social deprivation 1 December 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Human being is a social creature having an integral need to interact. According to some researches, social deprivation and isolation have distinctive effects on behaviour and lifestyle of a person. Social Deprivation is when people have limited access to social resources due to various reasons like mental disorders, tensions, poverty, social discrimination etc. Social deprivation and Social exclusion- These are two different terms. Social exclusion is when individuals are excluded from full participation in the society because of his or her community, culture, traits or characteristics. Though social deprivation can result into social exclusion in the society. Effects of social deprivation on human beings- Social deprivation can lead to loneliness, long term consequences in physical and mental health and way of behaving. It can affect child development and even the entire human functioning as, the influence of society and peer groups is the most important aspect of one’s growth as an individual. How covid-19 led to social deprivation- The social distancing measure which were mandatory for everyone all over the world to control the spread of corona virus is absolutely reducing everyone’s opportunity to engage in social interactivity outside their houses, especially the adolescents. This might seem to be a normal quarantine for the teenagers but it is as strenuous for them as for any working adult. The basic interaction which is very crucial for the character and personality development of a teen has been hindered due to the access to digital forms of social interaction through social media. Today, this poor social health has been connected to many negative side effects and it has to be dealt with. - Madhura Naik talks about the Life of an Actress
by Aparajita Jaiswal Madhura Naik talks about the Life of an Actress 30 June 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement In a freewheel chat with Neha Pande and Aparajita Jaiswal, Madhura Naik shares her journey in the acting industry. She is a brilliant actress, model and proud brand owner who has appeared in popular shows such as Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Hum Ne Li Hai- Shapath, Tumhari Pakhi, Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji and many more. She is an extremely hardworking, optimistic and creatively talented sensation who is not just an amazing actress but also someone who is an inspiration for the youth. Born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh; Madhura has been in the industry since 2007. Wanting to first be a Genetic engineer, Madhura moved to Bombay and has a degree in economics and Law. “Being an actress was never planned for me. I got discovered in my college campus for Universal and one thing led to the other.” For Madhura hardwork is the key ingredient for anyone. “I believe that every role I have played has had a memory for me. I was attached to Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani because we became a family on set and all of us are still great friends. It was basically coming on the set and having fun. I was just a kid, probably seventeen or eighteen, while shooting it.” “From 2020 a typical day in my life starts with washing vessels and cooking in the morning. I work during the day. In the evening I like to concentrate on my fitness and at night I am usually chilling with my friends” Madhura says. “ I had to learn how to cook on a stove for ‘Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji’. “I love cooking and I think in the lockdown I discovered cooking all over again” she told us. Madhura has been working for ‘The Ghost Thesis’ for an Amazon Web Series which will be released so keep an eye out for that. “When it comes to T.V I’ve worked with Star Plus, UTV, Sony channel, Life OK, Star One. It has been a great experience working with these brands and production houses. As far as fashion brands are concerned one of my most memorable experiences is working with Baume Mercier in Paris. I was very young when I was living in Paris so that would always hold a special place in my heart,” she said. Madhura is an extremely creative individual. “I like to create new things. The monotony gets to me sometimes so I feel it is important to reinvent myself every now and then. That is something that is constant about me and keep up with the upcoming trends and keep learning new things.” Madhura also usually tends to improvise slightly when she cannot relate to the dialogues of the script. As a kid Madhura aspired to be a genetic engineer but after she ended up in Mumbai she was discovered on her college campus for a music video with Universal and one thing led to another. “There is a huge difference working as a tv actress and a movie actress,” she says. “For tv sometimes you end up working fourteen hours a day. Films usually wrap up in fourth five days or sixty days whereas tv series go on for years on end. It’s a completely different ball game on tv because you have to put in a lot of hardwork and time. Sometimes the content you’re shooting is scheduled to release the very next day so you’re almost on real time. The pressure is far more on tv.” Madhura stresses that hardwork is the key point for success in this industry. “I wish I had guidance as to what projects to pick up and which projects to refuse when I was starting off in this industry because I did not have a career plan. I wish today if I was starting off, I wish I had somebody to guide me on which projects to concentrate on and how to go about films as I did not have a film background.” Madhura has created her own brand Lady M as she has always been inclined towards fashion. When asked what inspired her to dip her feet into fashion and creating her own brand she said, “I always like to dress well and see others dressed well and I feel it inspires you as a person when you’re having a bad day but when you step into the right shoes and clothes you feel really good about yourself. Fashion is not just about wearing good clothes but feeling good while you wear them. I wanted to also introduce new trends to my close friends and the actors but also it is also for the masses. I would love to also dip my feet into the makeup industry but fashion is more my thing than makeup.” Every role I’ve played has had a memory for me. Madhura did an advertisement in association with Bindass tv for PETA with Ashmit Patel against caging birds. “It was for a very good cause and I am completely against caging birds because their first instinct is to fly and it is very sad to have their first instinct being taken away from them. I feel sad seeing birds in cages and I would still like to talk about this because I want people to be aware of what they are doing when they are caging birds. The response to this ad was good and I feel like at least my fans would listen to me and not cage birds.” Madhura continues to work with PETA. “Whenever I see an animal suffering on the roads I always call up PETA and the team is very kind to take them in and take care of them. Madhura has played both roles, protagonist and antagonist. “There’s a vast difference while playing the two roles. When you’re playing the antagonist you have so much to explore because the character has so many shades but when you’re playing a positive role there is just one boring side to the character. I personally prefer playing negative roles. Acting is all about how you train your mind. You just have to become that person so I do not think it is hard for any actor to pretend to be someone else and be in a character’s shoes.” The most challenging part of the job, Madhura says, are the long hours because you don’t have a life and balancing your work life and professional life is crucial. “From morning to evening you’re engaged in the shoot and then when you’re back you’re so tired that you sleep and the next morning when you wake up you’re again gearing up for the shoot. People really need to know the hard work that goes behind the glamour. They just see the glamour and the exotic destinations. What most people do not realise is that while shooting we do not have time to explore cities even while shooting in Paris or London. I start my day in front of the camera and end my day in front of the camera.” Her biggest inspiration is the hard work that Beyoncé puts into her work. “I always find Beyoncé to be a big inspiration because of the hard work that she puts into doing anything that she does, the process of creating from scratch to releasing the final video. She is always on her toes, always working round the clock and she makes it look effortless. She inspires her team also to work that hard so the blood and sweat that goes into her work is a true inspiration,” she says. “As an actress I find Deepika Padukone to be an inspiration as she always gets her characters point on and as a model I find Bella hadid an inspiration as Victoria’s Secret models put in a lot of effort into their bodies. The kind of training that they go through before going on the ramp is not easy. They play all sorts of sports and are grilled to have the perfect bodies. They follow a strict diet and I know how difficult it is to stay without water before your shoot. The fashion industry is quite cut throat.” Hardwork according to Madhura is not the only thing that is the key to this industry. It is a combination of hardwork, talent and luck. Some people are lucky enough to land in the right place at the right time and find the right role. That is something I feel is destiny. I believe in destiny. No matter how hard work, destiny and timing has to be just right.” She feels that the one person that keeps pushing you forward is yourself. “The toughest time I faced was when I got into a road accident while shooting pyaar ki ek kahani. I dislocated my shoulder and did not have enough time to recover before being back on set. For three months I had to shoot with a broken shoulder and my entire harness on.” Madhura says that it is tough playing characters that you cannot relate to. “This industry has been kind with the roles and achievements I have had till date so just being able to stand up on my own two feet and the financial stability and freedom has made me who i am today. I will always be grateful for that.” “I just want to inspire people and fill their minds with positivity. I want to tell people not to take life so seriously because all you have is right now and life is not meant to be taken so seriously. Just enjoy who you are today.” This quarantine Madhura discovered herself as an artist. “I had a lot of time to read, sketched and rediscovered myself as an artist. I wrote, I sang, I read and it was a phase where I could bring back all my creativity. I personally like this book called Alice by Paulo Coelho. Madhura continues to be an inspiration to our youth with her zealous personality, her creativity and her work. She brings in positivity and wishes her fans safety and to enjoy their life. Her most aspiration quality being that she has always reinvented herself for the better and continues to add creative aspects to her work and personality. - The Revolutionary Fashion Bag Of 2024: Coperni Edition
By Rini Pathak The Revolutionary Fashion Bag Of 2024: Coperni Edition 7 March 2024 FASHION Advertisement Success in the ever-evolving world of fashion, where trends change with the seasons, depends on one’s ability to stay current and creative. Coperni is one such brand that continuously pushes the limits of innovation and technology. Be it the year of 2023, when the designers of Coperni, Sebastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant showcased unique blend of modern styles with electronic gadgets, the Human Ai Pin being attached to lapels or the spraying of dress on the incredible Bella Hadid or even the bringing of robot dogs on the catwalk, Coperni have always been known for creating a stir at the Paris Fashion Week. This brand was founded in the year 2013 and have continued to be a revolutionary brand in the world of fashion. The latest and the most peculiar fashion accessory that has been launched by Coperni has been able to become the current talk of the town. I am talking here about the Air Swipe bag, created in collaboration with NASA. This bag is the brand’s newest take on its iconic Swipe Bag silhouette. It weighs just 33 grams overall and is constructed from the lightest solid substance in the world—99% air and 1% glass. The team was seen clarifying in an Instagram post published by the brand which stated, “nanomaterial has been used by NASA to capture stardust: because it can withstand extreme heat (1200o Celsius) and a pressure of 4000 times its weight. This Air Swipe bag is the biggest ever object made if this space technology nanomaterial.” The post goes on to say that silica aerogel, a nanomaterial, is the “glass of the future” and that despite being “very delicate,” the bag is actually “non-fragile.” Professor Ioannis Michaloudis created the bag, which measures 27 by 16 by 6 cm. NASA’s silica aerogel nanomaterial was first created and studied in the context of fine art by Dr. Ioniss Muchaloudis, a Greek academic, visual artist, and researcher who is renowned throughout the world as one of the pioneers in the fields of science and art. Coperni continues to be dedicated to designing the future of the fashion industry with this statement. With this invention Coperni has been able to prove that sky is actually the limits and maybe in the future it may even invent something which might showcase that even sky is not the limit. Now the question here, my beautiful readers is that is this bag the next most sustainable, fashionable and desirable thing in the fashion industry? Well, that only time shall tell which we all are looking forward to. - Expression Through Art Therapy
by Anushka Singh Expression Through Art Therapy 1 September 2020 LIFESTYLE Advertisement Art and Mental Health are two amongst the most trivialized things in today’s era. People tend to misconceive the whole concept of art and undervalue the existence of mental health. And somehow, this commonality of being underrated is what makes the two complement each other for the best. The combination of Art and Mental Health might sound bizarre initially but makes perfect sense after gaining a clear perspective. And to perceive it clearly, let’s begin by separately understanding their essence. What is Art? The concept of art has been changing over the centuries and we can go about it in several ways. Art can often be contemplated as any and every kind of activity or creation that helps us express ourselves and intrigue other’s sense of emotions. It can be deep literature or mere scribbling, music production or sculpting, writing short poems to even dancing. Basically, everything that lets our feelings out through an activity can be considered as art. What is Therapy? Therapy is a process of treating one’s mental health, tension or stress rooting because of discrete life crisis be it relationships, career, self-doubt or any other hidden emotion you failed to understand. There are different types of therapeutic methods and of diverse degrees depending upon person to person. Also, it’s not mandatory to suffer from a mental disorder or any sort of psychological distress to be eligible for therapy. Turning back to the subject, by now you might be able to draw the link between art and therapy. Amongst the multiple elements of art, one is that it’s the solution to all your confusing situations where you find it hard to express and explore yourself, the kind of situation which leads to disturbed mental well-being. Mental health is something which is even ignored by us at times. But we all need to acknowledge it before it takes over our mind. Your problem can simply be the issue of low self-esteem or high self-doubt and you don’t really need to see a therapist but just apply the concept of performing arts in the context of therapy. Choose any approach or media like journaling, sculpturing or maybe just colouring your heart out, what truly matters is that you feel comfortable and easy while doing it. Self-expression through creativity can be very revealing and soothing. Creating art helps you take a stop and have a look back at what is up with your life and how is it affecting your choices and also lets you recognize feelings existing in the back of your mind. The therapy of art eases your emotions and releases your stress while working as a remedy to your depression. What’s important to remember is, you don’t have to be an artist to perform art therapy but just honest with yourself and the inborn artist in you will wake effortlessly. All the answers you need lies within you and art is the door that lets you enter this lane of solutions. As it is beautifully said, “Art Therapy transforms your pain into beauty”. Hailing from Ibiza, the birthplace of electronic music, Lana's passion for music began at a young age. She played the cello and keyboard and was surrounded by DJs and music every summer. This exposure sparked her interest in pursuing a career as a DJ. In an industry where men dominate the scene, Lana faced some challenges as a female DJ. Some venues and people did not take her seriously due to her ultra-feminine style and look. However, Lana did not let this deter her from achieving her dreams. She persevered, constantly producing music, and releasing at least one song a month. She also participated in podcasts, interviews, and radio shows, always looking for new sounds to keep her relevant in the industry. One day you'll see me wearing a princessy frilly dress, one day a leather jumpsuit that represents the adventurous side of me and sometimes just a plain white lakhnavi kurta with jeans and no make up- which represents the innocence and simple side of me. It really just depends on my mood." In a race to the death for the spotlight in a trying and difficult industry such as acting, one needs to be patient and have the courage to follow their dreams. What most of us lose out on while looking at the glamorous outlay of Bollywood, Tollywood or Hollywood is the struggle behind the screen for each and every aspiring actor. The key to success is not only perseverance and talent but also the patience to try again after getting rejected multiple times. Himanee Bhatia talks about the struggle of making it as an actress and offers her two cents. "I would like to advise all the girls, that firstly be proud of yourself. It takes courage to follow a path not everyone takes as when you do, you know you have immense competition, you may feel like a drop in the vast ocean, fingers will be raised at you by society, friends may leave you when you struggle and there will be thousands of people who will tell you that your dream is impossible. So be proud that you actually have the guts to take the risk to follow your dreams. "Having said that, I would encourage the girls to believe in their dream and work extremely hard. It is not a cake walk, you will get many rejections unless you're lucky and get a call back right away. But for most of us, we need to understand to be patient, to keep trying, to work on your skills and craft, to take care of yourself, to regularly give auditions and put yourself out there, to train in theatre and to work on yourself and identify what makes you different from the rest. Be unique, rather than falling for the rat race and never, ever compare yourself with others as everyone has a different journey. I would also advise that you need to be extremely disciplined in all aspects. Discipline and hardwork is what will actually make you talented, rather than relying on 'luck'." The multifaceted writer is also an incredible writer, dipping her toe into all genres of writing including poetry. "I write poetry, in both English and Hindi, and each and every poem of mine stands for everything I believe in; love, friendship, questioning society, health, hard work, success and talks about struggle, heartbreak, rising, falling and different experiences we face in life," says Himanee Bhatia. "People inspire me to write. When I see how everyone has a deeper layer to them than what meets the eye, I just feel writing is a beautiful way to see the soul of another human being. I aim to heal through my writing. I also believe in writing comedy, love, friendship and so much more, because a book often helps us escape a darker reality we live in to a happier place." The darker reality of today is the unaccepted and needed cure of therapy. Therapy for mental health issues amongst men and women in today's climate is a must and yet we are extremely judgemental and uninformed about the need of mental health therapy. Himanee Bhatia brings to life this very argued conversation. "Therapy should be accepted as much as going to any other doctor for a case of mild cold or cough. When someone has a fever, we never ask them, 'What led you to have a fever?' or 'Just get over it. Just smile.' Then why do we question this in the case of mental health? As a society we need to understand mental health is as important as physical health and the change begins at home. I urge all parents to recognise the signs and even for children who may see signs in their parents. Teachers need to educate and spread awareness about mental health not just for students but also for their parents. I feel even offices and other workplaces need more awareness for mental health. Therapy is essential for people who need it, and it is time we raise more awareness and stop asking people to 'Just get over it' and for that, change begins at home." As a former lawyer, Himanee Bhatia talks about what inspires her about the law and with our country trying to climb up from the cracks, what is the most heartbreaking thing about our legal system according to her. "I feel the need for justice is what made me do law. Law is for someone who believes in the concept of thinking, rather than just following the rules. Our country is doing our best, however I feel we can do much more. For starters , there are over 5 crore pending cases in India. We need to ensure everyone has a right to justice and speeden up the process, rather than delaying it and making the common man spend years of their life in courts. We all know we have a long way to go for stricter laws for violence against women and children. Every day you read of a case of domestic violence, sexual assault, abuse and so much more against women. Most of the cases are not even reported because as a society we still have a tendency to blame the victim. When a woman goes to report a case of rape, she is made to answer all sorts of derogatory questions which make her relive her trauma and is ridiculed at each step. We still read cases where a woman is chopped alive by her own lover, burnt to death for not giving dowry, rape which also involves marital rape and torture, both mental and physical. A country that cannot protect its women and children has indeed a very long way to go. We also need much, much, much stricter laws for abuse of any kind against children." The passionate actress adds to her thoughts on our law enforcement by also talking about animal abuse. "I wish there would be stricter laws for violence and abuse against animals. Day in and day out we hear of animal abuse and the punishment for some cases is as low as a fine of Rs 50. Only in cases of extreme abuse, is their imprisonment which is also bailable. I also feel we need to take strict action against acid attacks. For starters, even though sale of over the counter acid is banned in India, it is still extremely accessible and we need extremely strict laws to ban this." The actress passionately goes on to add, "the uniform civil code should be applicable in our country, rather than multiple laws applicable depending on different communities. Last but not the least, the men and others that are falsely blamed for false cases of dowry ,rape, etc by a woman or any gender should also be dealt with strictly as laws misused by women are detrimental to the women who actually seek justice." - How Fashion Haul Is Damaging Our Environment: Explained
by Aishwarya How Fashion Haul Is Damaging Our Environment: Explained 3 November 2022 FASHION Advertisement If you are active on social media, you would know what fashion haul is. At least once, these fashion haul videos must have popped on your feed. These videos can also be there in your ‘for you’ feed. Well, you might think, what’s the big deal if these videos are there? So let us tell you that, these videos are destroying our environment. Not in a real sense, but hypothetically speaking, these hauls lead to excessive buying of clothes and that leads to the destruction of our environment. A haul is a video that is promotional and, most fashion influencers do it. The company sends them a large number of clothes to try on and review. In return, the influencers get a hefty compensation in money or its kind. Now, the problem with such a promotion is that it provokes the audience to buy stuff that isn’t even needed by them. These hauls are heavily focused on fast fashion , which on its own is damaging to our nature. Though the hauls are bad for nature, people seem to like those content. The concept to understand here is that hauls are not only bad for our nature but are also for our budget. TikTok is a video content platform and, there are more than 1 billion views on the #clothinghaul hashtag and almost 13 billion views on the #haul hashtag. These numbers show us the reach, these videos have amongst the audience. The famous Shein is one of the most popular companies, in the haul trend. Shein hauls are popular for sure, but they are also driven by a marketing strategy. Shein has an affiliate program for influencers , that pays them a 10-20% commission for the haul post. Now, let’s talk about the damage, that these fast fashion hauls do to our environment. According to a study , the fast fashion industry creates almost 92 million tons of waste and, consumes around 79 trillion litres of water each year. As an industry, the fast fashion industry is responsible for 1/3rd of all microplastics found in the ocean and, produces almost 20% of global water waste. These numbers will concern you, but the fact is that most of fast fashion’s waste comes from post-production. Textile waste, the waste from unused textiles and old cloths, ends up in landfills. Around 85% of all textiles wind up in landfills every year- equivalent to one garbage truck filled with clothes being dumped in landfills every second. If this doesn’t concern you- which shouldn't be the case, there’s more than this. The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world, after the oil industry. Well, if you are thinking that, then why is it always the fashion industry that is being targeted? Then the reason is that fashion is a want and not a need. An excessive amount of clothing is harming the environment and also your bank account (read: month-end balance). The wastewater that this fast fashion industry produces, has toxic substances in it like lead, mercury, and arsenic. These substances are extremely harmful to aquatic life- where these substances are released, and also to millions of people who live by the river banks. A huge quantity of freshwater is used for dyeing and other processes, which leads to a shortage even more. To this, cotton needs a lot of water to grow, up to 20,000 litres of water is needed to produce 1kg of cotton. Another contributor to pollution is chemicals. They are used in every process, right from dyeing to result. The fashion industry also accounts for 10% of global carbon emission. It is also seen that the fashion industry has a major part in the degradation of soil. Apart from these environmental issues, there also exist some societal issues. The workers in the fashion industry are compensated very less and, and they work for a crazy amount of time. This is to keep up with the trends and deliver the clothes within the shortest period possible. This makes them a slave to the time, and they often end up getting burned out mentally and physically. The fast fashion and haul culture also give rise to the flex culture. Youngsters are on a quest to always have the trendiest clothes and also an excessive amount of clothing to wear. When there is a will, there is a way. So, the solution to this problem/disaster lies in acknowledging the harm that it is creating and, showing some willingness to change. Change isn’t difficult in today’s world, where nearly everything and anything has a cool alternative available. We just need to be mindful and choose sustainable options rather than a convenient option. A haul is a video that is promotional and, most fashion influencers do it. The company sends them a large number of clothes to try on and review. In return, the influencers get a hefty compensation in money or its kind. - The Very Naked Case Of John Cena
By Anushka Sharma The Very Naked Case Of John Cena 13 March 2024 FASHION Advertisement The glitz, the glamor, and yes, the unexpected nudity—welcome to the wild world of the Oscars ! Let's dive into the sensational saga of John Cena's bare-it-all moment at the 96th Annual Academy Awards in 2024 and how it echoes the infamous streaking incident from 1974. Picture this: Hollywood's finest gather to celebrate the crème de la crème of cinema at the Oscars. But amidst the star-studded affair, there's one man who decides to steal the spotlight in the most daring way possible—none other than wrestling legend turned actor, John Cena. Now, Cena wasn't up for any awards that night, but he sure made his mark. Strutting onto the stage alongside host Jimmy Kimmel, Cena left jaws dropping and tongues wagging as he stood there, completely in the buff. It was a bold move, to say the least, but Cena wasn't about to let a little thing like clothes get in the way of making a statement. So, what prompted this risqué display? Well, Kimmel, ever the mischief-maker, harked back to a legendary moment in Oscars history—the streaking incident of 1974. Back then, a fellow by the name of Robert Opel caused quite the stir by dashing across the stage in his birthday suit. And Kimmel, always one for a good laugh, thought it would be hilarious to recreate that moment with Cena. But Cena wasn't having it. With a twinkle in his eye and a hint of mischief, he declared, "The male body is not a joke." It was a powerful statement, reminding us all that there's more to nudity than just shock value. And with that, Cena took his place on stage, ready to present the award for Best Costume Design. Of course, presenting an award at the Oscars is no easy feat, especially when you're doing it in the buff. Cena struggled to open the winner's envelope, his lack of clothing proving to be more of a hindrance than a help. But hey, that's showbiz for you! Meanwhile, let's rewind the clock to 1974, the year of the original Oscars streaker, Robert Opel. As host David Niven attempted to introduce Elizabeth Taylor, Opel made his grand entrance, streaking across the stage with reckless abandon. It was a moment of pure chaos and hilarity, with Niven quick to quip, "Isn't it fascinating to think that probably the only laugh that man will ever get in his life is by stripping off and showing his shortcomings?" Opel's motives were unclear—some say he was advocating for body positivity, while others claim he simply wanted his fifteen minutes of fame. But regardless of his intentions, Opel's streaking stunt left an indelible mark on Oscars history, setting the stage for future moments of unexpected hilarity. Back in 2024, Cena's bare-it-all moment may not have been as spontaneous as Opel's, but it was certainly no less entertaining. As he stood there, stark naked, presenting an award at the most prestigious event in Hollywood, Cena reminded us all that sometimes, you've just got to strip away the pretense and embrace the absurdity of it all. So, whether you're a wrestling fan, a movie buff, or just someone who enjoys a good laugh, Cena's naked Oscars moment is sure to go down in history as one of the most memorable—and hilarious—moments in Oscars history. Here's to the wild, wacky world of Hollywood, where anything can happen, and often does!
