  • The story of the suicide forest: Japan’s suicide forest

by Aishwarya The story of the suicide forest: Japan’s suicide forest 1 November 2022 TRAVEL Advertisement Advertisement What does come to your mind, when you hear the word “forest”? Well, for obvious reasons, you would think about lush green space, a ton of trees, breezy and cool, and a very peaceful place. A forest that isn’t known for its peaceful atmosphere, but rather a disturbing truth, is a weird thing, right? There is a forest in Japan that has the reputation and recognition for having the second-highest number of suicides happening there. It gets even more spooky when the locals over there claim the forest to be possessed by the spirits of the suicide victims. This is the story of a forest in Japan, named Aokigahara Forest, located northwest of Mount Fuji. The entrance of the forest warns its visitors, to “Think carefully about your children, your family. Your life is a precious gift from your parents. Quietly think once more about your parents, siblings or children. Please don’t suffer alone, and first, reach out.” These are the words that are adorned at the entrance of Aokigahara Forest. This forest is globally known as the Suicide Forest. It is the second most famous place for suicides, the first being the Golden Gate Bridge. The forest is spread across a huge area of 35 sq km, giving it the name “Sea of Trees”. It is believed that getting lost in the forest is a very common thing here, and the way out of it is an impossible mission. With a story so dark, it is pretty common to have a reputation for it being possessed. According to Japanese mythology, the forest is said to be home to Yurei- which means ghosts of the dead. As per the official statements , around 105 bodies were discovered in the forest, in the year 2003. Most of the bodies were severely decomposed and/or eaten by wild animals. Due to its story, many Japanese spiritualists believe that the suicides have permeated the trees, which results in paranormal activities in the forest. People often lose their way inside the forest, as the technologies and devices such as compasses and mobile phones fail here. It is due to the deposits of magnetic iron created by the volcanic salt in this region. The devices start behaving weirdly and show wrong directions. Now, this is the reason, it's an impossible mission to find your way out of this forest. People also believe that the bodies of suicide victims should not be left alone in the forest. They believe that it is bad luck for the victims and often their spirits cry and scream for help, and also move their bodies. Now, we don’t know how true it is, but the belief of some people cannot be ignored just because it isn’t proven. Keeping this in the mind, the forest workers bring them back and keep them in a special room at the local forest police station. Many experts have researched why people choose to die in this forest. Almost three decades ago, a Japanese psychiatrist interviewed some Aokigahara suicide survivors and wrote that a key reason for their selection was that “they believed that they would be able to die successfully without being noticed.” Another psychiatrist, Dr Yoshitomo Takahashi, believed that movies and media reports have played a role in influencing people. He also said that they might have wanted to “share the same place with others and belong to the same group”. The nation has been taking steps to curb suicides, over the years. Security cameras are being set at the entrances, hoping to track those who walk inside, according to Imasa Watanabe of the Yamanashi prefectural government. The local government has also opted for suicide prevention methods, such as raising the bridge rails' height, having volunteered to talk to and convince suicidal visitors, increasing police patrolling and discouraging movies and TV shows to not promote the forest as a suicide forest. With a reputation so dark, Aokigahara Forest has failed to be peaceful and beautiful, as a forest should be. We need to know that, suicide doesn’t end your problem but rather removes you and replaces your family & loved ones, in your problem. There is a forest in Japan that has the reputation and recognition for having the second-highest number of suicides happening there. It gets even more spooky when the locals over there claim the forest to be possessed by the spirits of the suicide victims. #SuicideForest #AokigaharaForest #Suicide #MentalHealth #Japan #SeaofTrees #TravelFacts SEARCH 7 Abandoned Cities In India And Abroad That Are Too Beautiful To Be Forgotten TRAVEL Blue Lagoon – Iceland TRAVEL Palm Islands TRAVEL WORLD PEACE DOME TRAVEL Blood Falls In Antarctica: Explained TRAVEL POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Chiang Mai Is So Unrealistically Magical; And Here Is Why 28 June 2024 TRAVEL By Anushka Sharma Lakshadweep Is A Heaven In Disguise And Here Is Why 3 April 2024 TRAVEL By Anushka Sharma If Uzbekistan Isn’t On Your Travel List, Here Is Exactly Why It Should Be 21 March 2024 TRAVEL By Anushka Sharma The Fashion Capitals Of Asia: Exploring Style Beyond Borders 19 March 2024 TRAVEL RELATED POSTS

by Anushka Sharma In Conversation And More With Payal Ghosh 11 March 2023 COVER STORIES Advertisement Accompanied with a vivacious personality and an appealing charm, Payal Ghosh is a class apart indeed. In a candid take on her life’s trajectory with us, we uncovered a lot that lies under the layers. Speaking of when she got her first break, she said, “I was just 17 when I got my first opportunity. I wasn't even out of college yet, I just went to accompany a friend to an audition and I got a movie Prayanam directed by a National Award winning director Mr. Yeleti. It was a fantastic experience.” Getting an opportunity at the age of 17 is definitely a God’s given bliss! Speaking of how she would describe her experience working in the South as well as Bollywood, she talks to us about how different the overall outlook is. She states, “They both are different. Down south they do a lot of pre-production work. This is not to say that Bollywood doesn't, but it's more abundant there. The shoots are also wrapped sooner down south. Bollywood is a different ballgame. The audience is wide and you are critiqued for everything that you do. As we unfurled a few topics on which one of her works is closest to her heart, she tells us that she cannot choose or pick a single project! “All of them. I can't differentiate between them. They are like my babies. I’ve worked so much that no work is big or less for me, I loved all my work and every artist should love every work of theirs.” Art is all about nourishing a metaphorical baby that feeds off your talent, after all! Speaking of her upcoming projects, she states, “One of them is Red which is completed with Krishna. It's a thriller. I have started working on "Shaque the doubt" which is also a thriller. The shooting commences in London soon. I’ve many more projects coming up to surprise the Audience and my fans.” When we asked Payal about this one piece of advice for the girls who are keen to join the industry, she tells us, “Be bold, be yourself and don't take the shortcut route. If you work hard enough for your dreams you'll surely make it. There is enough room for talent. Believe in yourself.” However, acting isn’t all that she’s known for. Payal has some slick sense of dressing as well. When asked about her fashion mantra, she tells us the key to knowing it all: Being yourself in whatever you wear, with confidence and happiness, only to never go wrong with it! As the conversation divulged into the topics of mental health, she has a rather interesting take on the entire subject. She states, “Do start with a goal for your mental health content. ... Do use credible sources. ... Do include the details on how to get in touch with professional help. ... Don't limit people's identities to their mental health.” Speaking of her views on body positivity, she tells us, “All body types are beautiful and deserve acceptance. Body positivity is guided by the understanding that feeling positive and accepting of appearance can improve mental health, reduce the risk of eating disorders, and allow someone to function at their best. Needless to say, this interview with Payal Ghosh was indeed a refreshing take on life, Bollywood and perspectives in general. • When It Comes To Shop Fashionable Items Here’s What Most Men Want

by Yashi Srivastava When It Comes To Shop Fashionable Items Here’s What Most Men Want 12 February 2023 FASHION Advertisement The time when men hated shopping is long gone. Today, most men want to look good and feel good and so, want to shop good. Even though there are certain differences between what men and women want when they go out to shop for clothes, accessories, shoes, and more! So, what is it that most men want when they go shopping for clothes and other fashion items? Men want to be clear on what they want Most men do not like wasting time in several shops and showrooms before deciding on what they want. It is not an opportunity to socialize with other men, for them. So, the best thing that a man can do before going out shopping is to make a list of all the fashion items he wants, including the design or color he wants. For instance, if you want to buy a shirt, do a little research to get an idea of what kind of shirt you want -the design, color, style, etc. along with the store which may have it. You can find the store on Google to and go straight into it. They want to shop with convenience Men do not want to browse through an ocean of clothes or jeans or accessory to find that one perfect fashion item they had in mind. Woman, certainly would bring down an entire mountain to find that peach dress which Rachel wore in FRIENDS, but men just don’t care. So, they would usually prefer to go inside the showrooms that have MEN section. If you have a fashion store, pay heed to this and create a section exclusively for men. It may be a big reason why most men love to shop online - they do not have to go out and search for their section in the store! If it is not a gadget or equipment, money certainly matters to men While most men love to shop fashion these days, unlike women, they would want to see the value in the product. In other words, whether they are shopping online or at a store, the brand has got to show its worth to them otherwise it would most certainly be a no from men. Most men like branded clothes and shoes but they wouldn’t appreciate the idea of expensive for no reason. Once they find their go-to brand, they will stick to it for years Men want to find a fashion brand that suits them and they would certainly be their loyal army for years and years! Why do you think most men go to Levis? It is because the brand has established a connection with them that most fashion brands cannot simply because Levis understand and connects with men’s psyche. The brand offer discounts, offers, and loyalty programs to reel men in and well, most men like it. Online stores over offline showrooms As mentioned already, most men like convenience, even when shopping for clothes or other fashion items. So, yes, online shopping preferable over offline, and they wouldn’t mind paying more for this, we mean the delivery charges. Well, it’s understandable for even women enjoy the comfort part. So, remember to give them the value of their money, exclusive space, and of course, a loyalty program to relate to, and you would see that even though men have it their way, they wouldn’t mind going out to shop every weekend. Blob - With the changing fashion world, why wouldn’t men embrace the idea of shopping fashionable items for themselves? Gone are the days when men didn’t want to look good. With changing times, even male shoppers want to explore the best in fashion but in their own way! If it has value, convenience, and style, men of this generation will buy it! • Five ways to make your commute enjoyable

by Aishwarya Five ways to make your commute enjoyable 4 November 2022 LIFESTYLE Advertisement Commuting to work is one of the most universally despised of all the things that give us tension and anxiety — a heavy workload, financial difficulties, and a cluttered home, to mention a few. During the pandemic, millions of people were able to forego long commutes in exchange for a short stroll to their computers. Now that firms are bringing remote workers back to the office, the prospect of dealing with rush-hour traffic or crowded public transportation can leave workers mentally and physically exhausted before they even leave the house. Let’s see five ways to make your daily commute more enjoyable. Discover Something New: Do you have to keep your eyes on the road? Look for audiobooks or podcasts in your field. "When I started a new job, it required some different skills, so I listened to audiobooks about topics like leadership and agile methodology," says Juliya Margolin, a director of product development at Prudential who commutes by car from Brooklyn to the company's headquarters in Newark—a trip that takes at least an hour. Seek advice from coworkers or mentors, and embrace learning on several platforms. "Audio is a terrific method for me to diversify how I consume information," explains Margolin . "I read on a computer most of the time." Listening allows me to immerse myself in a subject in a new and enriching way." Change Your Travel Schedule: Instead of attempting to navigate New York City's peak rush-hour traffic from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., Margolin leaves her Brooklyn home at about 8:30 a.m. and arrives at work in less time and with significantly less stress. Despite her later start time, she arrives at a respectable 9:30 AM. "My team is more concerned with getting things done than with face time," Margolin explains. "Some days, I have to come in for 8:30 or 9 a.m. meetings, but I'm flexible when necessary and utilise my judgement as to which meetings are critical." Margolin follows the same technique after the day, departing a little later, after 6 PM, to avoid the 4:30 to 6 PM traffic jam. Make a plan: Experiment with different driving routes and commuting days and hours. Take note of peak traffic times and plan your route accordingly. Plan your commute to the workplace on off-peak days and hours if you have the option of working a flexible remote or hybrid schedule. You can also cut your commute time by avoiding peak hours. After work, run errands, go to the gym or business fitness centre, or join a recreational sports team near your office. You'll get some workouts and maybe even meet some new people! Bring snacks: Don't drive hangry! If you're hungry or thirsty in the afternoon, a traffic standstill is much more annoying. Keep protein snacks or bottles of water in their trunk or your desk drawer at work for a quick pick-me-up before getting behind the wheel. Reduce screen time: Most of us already spend a significant portion of our day staring at a screen. If you take public transportation, try taking a break from your screen. Non-digital material such as a book, magazine, or even an old-fashioned crossword puzzle might help you work other areas of your brain and minimise fatigue. To calm your thoughts, listen to a podcast, music, or relaxing sounds. During the pandemic, millions of people were able to forego long commutes in exchange for a short stroll to their computers. #Commute #Travel #Work #DailyCommute #Audiobooks #Tips #Lifestyle SEARCH Countdown To History: Omega Unveils Paris 2024 Olympics Countdown Clock And Special Edition Timepiece LIFESTYLE Juggling Law And Fashion: The Inspirational Journey Of Riddhi Nahata, A Multifaceted Influencer LIFESTYLE Join Shruti Yogi On Her Enchanting Journey From Kumkum Bhagya To Wanderlust Saga LIFESTYLE Personal Growth And Relatability: Ishita Khanna's Key To Influencer Success LIFESTYLE 6 Disadvantages Of Being Pretty LIFESTYLE POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma From Dental Drills To Instagram Thrills: The Journey Of Mekhala Bawsay 16 August 2024 LIFESTYLE By Anushka Sharma Juggling Two Worlds: The Inspiring Journey Of Kritika Goel 16 August 2024 LIFESTYLE By Anushka Sharma Kanchan Serai: Balancing The Skies And The Spotlight 15 August 2024 LIFESTYLE By Anushka Sharma Nikita Pawar: From Fashion Design To Digital Stardom 15 August 2024 LIFESTYLE RELATED POSTS Advertisement

  • Ahsaas Channa Talks About Her Mother Being The Inspiration Behind Her Career

by Aparajita Jaiswal Ahsaas Channa Talks About Her Mother Being The Inspiration Behind Her Career 3 March 2022 Advertisement In a candid interview with Manya Vadehra, Ahsaas Channa (actor) talks about acting in movies, television, and digital web shows. From Jugaadistan to shooting for Hostel days season 3, she gives us some worth noting down “deets” from her upcoming projects. She is a passionate actor and believer. Ahsaas Channa was born and brought up in Mumbai. She started her career as a child actor in films such as Vaastu Shastra and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, where she stepped into male roles. “I was three years old and I was a very active child. Anytime there was any scene playing on TV, I used to remember all the lines, and for a three-year-old to remember all the lines was kind of weird and it catches a lot of eyes. So, my mom noticed this, and she realized that I might do well if I start acting and she put me for auditions. I had auditioned for Vaastu Shastra, which was my first film, and for the part, they had wanted a boy because the whole film was about this boy, but they really liked my audition. So, the director requested my mom, you know, if it’s okay for me to play a boy. And at first, my mom was not very (convinced) and she had many reservations but eventually said that I was too young and she saw no problems” says Ahsaas. The film performed exceedingly well and Ahsaas was given several opportunities including advertisements. Ahsaas added “I think when I was around seven years old, my mom realized that this is it, this should stop, and I should start acting like a girl. That’s when I did Phoonk. This was my debut film as a girl.” In her acting journey, Ahsaas received several television roles such as Oye Jassie (Disney) and MTV Fanaah. “Television was great. It was a whole different experience. Honestly, I never wanted to do TV as much but at that time, I did not want to leave acting because I was studying, and a lot of things were there. So, I always made sure I did cameos on TV shows, or a Disney show that doesn’t take much time, just like a few months where they shoot all the episodes together. So, I tried to do that as much. Even in Fanaah, I had a cameo with a lead role. I think TV really teaches you a lot as an actor because there’s a lot happening. I think doing TV is the best if you don’t go to an acting school. So, I got to learn a lot from TV. I got to understand axis and lighting, professionalism, and all these things” says Ahsaas as she explains how television acting played an important and significant role in her career span. Digitally run web shows have become a new and revolutionary trend in today’s world. It has brought about novel concepts, story angles, and acting methodologies. When asked for an opinion about OTT and its difference from films and television, here is what Ahsaas had to say- “I’ve realized that there is literally no difference because everybody is doing the same thing everywhere, be it on TV or on OTT. We are all trying to tell a story and acting and becoming characters. The only difference, maybe, would be the time period; how long it takes us to shoot a web series or a TV series. I think TV takes longer, it binds you for a year or more and web series is like a month or two months at max. As it is rightly said, behind every successful person, is an inspiring story or person. For Ahsaas Channa, it is her mother. “She’s the reason I’m an actor today. She’s taught me everything. I never went to an acting school, she groomed me and worked on my craft with me. She’s also an actress and I’ve seen her act and work hard. So, she’s always been my inspiration.” While talking about her experience, Ahsaas also reveals some positives and negatives of being in the spotlight in show business. “One thing that we always need to look out for is that there are a lot of people running in the same race. They are trying to achieve exactly what you are achieving. So, the moment you lose yourself and become a little lazy, you can be taken for granted and somebody else is going to overtake. For an actor, I think there are many good things. My favourite thing is that I get to do things that I wouldn’t be able to do in real life, for example, I’ve never ever studied medical. But through Kota Factory, I was a medical student. So, an actor gets to do different kinds of things that they wouldn’t do in real life. Play different characters, be in different situations and get different kinds of experiences. I’ve never been to a hostel, but I’ve done two shows that are based on hostels. I got to live the hostel life through these shows. So, I think this is the best part of being an actor.” Ahsaas “goes with the flow” when it comes to preparing for a role. She says “I read the script a lot of times before I’m on the floor. Also, I read scenes with the writers and the directors and get their feedback”. Ahsaas does not follow a particular method to prepare for a role. She explains by giving an example- “In Jugaadistan, I’m a journalism student. I don’t know anything about journalism. I just started watching a lot of interviews, I read a bit about journalism and journalists. But that’s all. That’s the max I do. I feel like if I prepare too much then things become very mechanical.” Throwing light into her upcoming projects, here’s what she has to say about them- “ Jugaadistan is set in the college universe. The universe that I’ve already explored. But it’s still very different because we’ve tried to explore a very dark side of college and university. While it is a lot of fun, we are still exploring friendships, relationships, jugaads, and a college fest in the show. There’s a brilliant ensemble here as well and everybody has a story of their own. I’ve always wanted to work with Akarsh Khurana and when I got an offer for this, this was the first thing that caught my eye, that Akarsh is directing the show.” Ahsaas also gave details about Hostel Days season and two more upcoming projects. Ahsaas Channa is a hard worker and believes that one should not take things for granted but keep working, believe in oneself and make the most out of the opportunities one gets in life. #AhsaasChannatalksabouthermotherbeingtheinspirationbehindhercareer #actor #jugaadistan #AhssasChanna #Fashion #play #lutopia #magazine #LutopiaMagazine #actress #lionsgateplay #Bollywoodactress #lionsgate #jugaadistan SEARCH Karishma Kotak Playing Her Innings In Fashion, Sports And Fitness COVER STORIES Musings With Maryam Zolghadr COVER STORIES Madhura Naik talks about the Life of an Actress COVER STORIES Kavya Thapar And Her Versatile Acting Career That Cuts Across Regional Lines COVER STORIES Ahsaas Channa Talks About Her Mother Being The Inspiration Behind Her Career COVER STORIES POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Komica Anchal: A Journey Of Perseverance, Passion, And Possibilities 11 September 2024 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma From Dream To Reality: The Rise Of Sameer Mark In The Fashion Industry 9 September 2024 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma From The Silver Screen To Human Rights Advocacy With Award Winning Actress Sheena Chohan 21 August 2024 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma The Journey Of Shilpa Joshi: A Musical Odyssey 6 August 2024 COVER STORIES RELATED POSTS Advertisement

  • Multifaceted Himanee Bhatia Not Only Proves To Be An Advocate For The Law But Also For Mental Health

by Aparajita Jaiswal Multifaceted Himanee Bhatia Not Only Proves To Be An Advocate For The Law But Also For Mental Health 24 January 2023 COVER STORIES Advertisement While pursuing her passion for acting, in a freewheel chat with Aparajita Jaiswal, Himanee Bhatia shares her journey about building her career from scratch , from working as a lawyer seeking justice to writing and now being a beloved actress. Her fans are eagerly awaiting her latest releases, wanting to see more of the beloved actress on screen, including but not limited to a webshow for Zee5, two Punjabi music videos , one to be shot in London and one in Japan and a Hindi film for a leading OTT platform and for a south film which is still untitled. An ambitious young woman with much to bring to the world, Himanee Bhatia talks about her fashion mantra, "As cliche as I sound, but really just be yourself. As they say, fashion may come and go but style is eternal. Discover what represents your personality rather than copying what someone wore at a party. See what represents you." Adding to that, Himanee talks about her own fashion style, "I constantly change my fashion choices. One day you'll see me wearing a princessy frilly dress, one day a leather jumpsuit that represents the adventurous side of me and sometimes just a plain white lakhnavi kurta with jeans and no make up- which represents the innocence and simple side of me. It really just depends on my mood." In a race to the death for the spotlight in a trying and difficult industry such as acting, one needs to be patient and have the courage to follow their dreams. What most of us lose out on while looking at the glamorous outlay of Bollywood, Tollywood or Hollywood is the struggle behind the screen for each and every aspiring actor. The key to success is not only perseverance and talent but also the patience to try again after getting rejected multiple times. Himanee Bhatia talks about the struggle of making it as an actress and offers her two cents. "I would like to advise all the girls, that firstly be proud of yourself. It takes courage to follow a path not everyone takes as when you do, you know you have immense competition, you may feel like a drop in the vast ocean, fingers will be raised at you by society, friends may leave you when you struggle and there will be thousands of people who will tell you that your dream is impossible. So be proud that you actually have the guts to take the risk to follow your dreams. "Having said that, I would encourage the girls to believe in their dream and work extremely hard. It is not a cake walk, you will get many rejections unless you're lucky and get a call back right away. But for most of us, we need to understand to be patient, to keep trying, to work on your skills and craft, to take care of yourself, to regularly give auditions and put yourself out there, to train in theatre and to work on yourself and identify what makes you different from the rest. Be unique, rather than falling for the rat race and never, ever compare yourself with others as everyone has a different journey. I would also advise that you need to be extremely disciplined in all aspects. Discipline and hardwork is what will actually make you talented, rather than relying on 'luck'." The multifaceted writer is also an incredible writer, dipping her toe into all genres of writing including poetry. "I write poetry, in both English and Hindi, and each and every poem of mine stands for everything I believe in; love, friendship, questioning society, health, hard work, success and talks about struggle, heartbreak, rising, falling and different experiences we face in life," says Himanee Bhatia. "People inspire me to write. When I see how everyone has a deeper layer to them than what meets the eye, I just feel writing is a beautiful way to see the soul of another human being. I aim to heal through my writing. I also believe in writing comedy, love, friendship and so much more, because a book often helps us escape a darker reality we live in to a happier place." The darker reality of today is the unaccepted and needed cure of therapy. Therapy for mental health issues amongst men and women in today's climate is a must and yet we are extremely judgemental and uninformed about the need of mental health therapy. Himanee Bhatia brings to life this very argued conversation. "Therapy should be accepted as much as going to any other doctor for a case of mild cold or cough. When someone has a fever, we never ask them, 'What led you to have a fever?' or 'Just get over it. Just smile.' Then why do we question this in the case of mental health? As a society we need to understand mental health is as important as physical health and the change begins at home. I urge all parents to recognise the signs and even for children who may see signs in their parents. Teachers need to educate and spread awareness about mental health not just for students but also for their parents. I feel even offices and other workplaces need more awareness for mental health. Therapy is essential for people who need it, and it is time we raise more awareness and stop asking people to 'Just get over it' and for that, change begins at home." As a former lawyer, Himanee Bhatia talks about what inspires her about the law and with our country trying to climb up from the cracks, what is the most heartbreaking thing about our legal system according to her. "I feel the need for justice is what made me do law. Law is for someone who believes in the concept of thinking, rather than just following the rules. Our country is doing our best, however I feel we can do much more. For starters , there are over 5 crore pending cases in India. We need to ensure everyone has a right to justice and speeden up the process, rather than delaying it and making the common man spend years of their life in courts. We all know we have a long way to go for stricter laws for violence against women and children. Every day you read of a case of domestic violence, sexual assault, abuse and so much more against women. Most of the cases are not even reported because as a society we still have a tendency to blame the victim. When a woman goes to report a case of rape, she is made to answer all sorts of derogatory questions which make her relive her trauma and is ridiculed at each step. We still read cases where a woman is chopped alive by her own lover, burnt to death for not giving dowry, rape which also involves marital rape and torture, both mental and physical. A country that cannot protect its women and children has indeed a very long way to go. We also need much, much, much stricter laws for abuse of any kind against children." The passionate actress adds to her thoughts on our law enforcement by also talking about animal abuse. "I wish there would be stricter laws for violence and abuse against animals. Day in and day out we hear of animal abuse and the punishment for some cases is as low as a fine of Rs 50. Only in cases of extreme abuse, is their imprisonment which is also bailable. I also feel we need to take strict action against acid attacks. For starters, even though sale of over the counter acid is banned in India, it is still extremely accessible and we need extremely strict laws to ban this." The actress passionately goes on to add, "the uniform civil code should be applicable in our country, rather than multiple laws applicable depending on different communities. Last but not the least, the men and others that are falsely blamed for false cases of dowry ,rape, etc by a woman or any gender should also be dealt with strictly as laws misused by women are detrimental to the women who actually seek justice." • Journeying Through Fashion And Self - Expression With Paranosh Irani

by Akshra Khandelwal Journeying Through Fashion And Self - Expression With Paranosh Irani 27 August 2023 FASHION Advertisement "Fashion is a variable, while style is a constant. Style expresses who I am in my way!" - These words resonate deeply with the vibrant soul that is Paranosh Irani. From the colourful realms of Instagram to the poised corridors of the fashion world, Paranosh has carved a niche uniquely hers. In an exclusive interview with our magazine, she unveils her journey, her inspirations, and the philosophy that drives her. With a radiant smile that mirrors her effervescent personality, Paranosh Irani delves into her roots, giving us a glimpse of her evolution as a digital content creator and social media influencer. "Who is Paranosh Irani?" she muses as if teasing us to embark on a journey of discovery. A journey began on Instagram, where she found her voice through a quirky-edgy take on Fashion, offering honest reviews and invaluable tips on skincare and makeup. Her audience is not just followers; they are comrades, fellow Unicorn enthusiasts who understand her affinity for the mythical creature that represents her spirit – unique, magical, and full of dreams. The sparkle in her eyes intensifies as she shares her thoughts on Fashion and style. "Fashion is a variable, while style is a constant," she asserts. To her, style is the canvas on which she paints her individuality. It's not about following trends but creating a tapestry of self-expression. A style icon in her own right, Paranosh draws inspiration from Iris Apfel, a nonagenarian fashion maven. The connection between the two might not be obvious at first glance, but the audacity to be oneself, no matter the age, forms the bridge between their worlds. As she traces her journey, it's evident that the path wasn't always bedecked with confidence and self-assuredness. "Since childhood, I always felt I had an 'out-of-the-box' factor to give back to the industry," she confesses. Yet, her path meandered, and she grappled with self-esteem issues. Only later, after enrolling in an image consulting course, her vision cleared. The world of Fashion and self-expression, which had seemed distant, became an open field of opportunities. "It brought back my love for fashion," she reminisces, a reminder that sometimes our passions only need a gentle nudge to return. The tale takes a twist as we learn of her dalliance with setting up an online platform for local boutiques, a project that remained in the shadows. It's a testament to the fact that not every venture blooms into the spotlight, but each contributes to the growth of the creative spirit. Against the backdrop of these endeavours, the idea of fashion blogging simmered, waiting for the right moment to take centre stage. Paranosh Irani took her rightful place in the digital realm like a phoenix rising from the ashes. The days of indecision were behind her, replaced by a conviction to chase her dreams relentlessly. "When people around me work 3-4 jobs, why can't I manage two?" She questions a statement that encapsulates her relentless determination. With Instagram as her launchpad, she embarked on a blogging journey, eventually expanding her presence to a WordPress blog account. Today, her digital footprint is a testament to her creative prowess. She has crafted a space uniquely hers with content that reflects her quirky-edgy perspective on Fashion, insightful reviews, skincare tips, and lifestyle musings. But she didn't stop there. Winner of the Femina Mrs Stylista Pageant 2018, she broke her barriers and shattered the glass ceiling. "This was the first time I had ever won something beauty-fashion related," she chuckles, her younger self amazed by the woman she's become. The tale would only be complete by acknowledging her media collaborations. Her styling videos have graced the digital pages of My Good Times, while her story has been told through the ink of Eatmy News, Creme Magazine, Making HERstory Again, and the airwaves of Radio One, Pune. A highlight that gleams with pride is her participation in the Born on Instagram program by Instagram itself, a validation of her influence and creativity. Beyond the digital realm, Paranosh has ventured into entrepreneurship. Her online business, www.theaccessorys.com , and her preloved fashion endeavour, ReHome ReLove, symbolise her enterprising spirit. They are also a reminder that her journey is as much about creating pathways for others as it is about personal growth. As the conversation draws closer, her dreams emerge on the horizon. An ambassador on a global stage for fashion week, representing her unique style to the world – that's the crescendo she envisions. Yet, amidst the aspirations, her message remains grounded and potent. "Don't give up; perceive, push your boundaries and carve your niche because no one is like you!" Paranosh Irani is more than an influencer; she's a storyteller, a dreamer, and a warrior of self-expression. Her journey reminds us that pursuing passion is not a linear path but a tapestry of experiences woven with threads of resilience, audacity, and unyielding belief. As we bid farewell to this effervescent creator, we are left with the anticipation of the many chapters she's yet to pen, the stories she's yet to tell, and the fashion she’s yet to conquer. • Picture Abhi Baaki Hai Mere Dost – Alankrita Anup Sahai’s Journey

by Aparajita Jaiswal Picture Abhi Baaki Hai Mere Dost – Alankrita Anup Sahai’s Journey 25 January 2023 COVER STORIES Advertisement The first Indian to win 7 titles at the Miss Earth pageant held in the Philippines, Alankrita Anup Sahai, gets candid with us and gives us a glimpse of her life journey. We asked her about the responsibilities which surely came along with the 7 titles of Miss Earth to which she said, “ Yes it did come with a lot of responsibility and hard work. Well, diamonds are made under pressure so, I somehow worked well with it and didn’t succumb to the pressure. I had to represent my country, which in itself is the biggest dream that came true and which surely filled me with a lot of pride. A lot of eyes were on me at that time. The pressure was undeniably a lot but I enjoyed every bit of it and turned any dark and dull moment into a humorous one. Presence of mind and being able to have fun, played a very important role in winning the same.” She tells us that acting was never a goal or a dream. However, in school days dancing and dramatics were her best friends and she was always participating in all the cultural activities. Inherently, all of it was a part of her but what she really wanted to become was an IAS officer but the universe had other plans and conspired for her. We asked her about her involvement in all the social work she does and how it personally affected her to which she said, “It has made me and my spectrum of understanding human psychology grow. It’s helped me serve the people who in return made my heart kinder and made me more aware that I should be grateful for what I have. They have taught me never to give up on hope and always strive to help or make someone smile even if takes an ocean or just a drop. Everyone should know that they really matter. I am an empath so I can feel things even more intensely now.” “Joyful, eventful, beautiful, hurtful and extremely delightful” – are the words she describes her journey with. The journey encapsulated a variety of experiences that made her what she is today. She says, “ The city of Mumbai took me in its arms and embraced me. She never let me go and never gave up on me. She gave me wings and I flew and built a life, a name that I would continue to work towards. I will enjoy this journey of a lifetime.” Looking back at her journey, she feels immense gratitude and hopes to be a better version of herself everyday. “My journey has been blissfully easy and difficult yet smooth, filled with joy and tears. An Amalgamation of emotions ! Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost.” For the obvious delight of her fans we asked her about her upcoming projects and she told us that her two films, ‘Tippsy’ and ‘Dead girls don’t talk’ are slated to release next year. Her upcoming Amazon series, songs and projects are all there in the pipeline. We asked her to share her mantra with the young girls who aspire to be the pageant queens, to which she said, “ Be true to who you are. Be confident and wear your smile like it’s worth a billion dollars. Do not ever succumb to bullies or bully anyone either. You may be heavily influenced by the world outside and Instagram could make you conscious but the world that’s inside of you is far more beautiful. You have to be mentally, emotionally and spiritually aligned and strong to be in any industry and face the challenges the world will throw at you. The will to rise with grace is the most important part of this journey. Avoid being with people who gossip because great minds talk about visions not people. In the end, attract what you expect, reflect what you desire, become what you respect and mirror what you admire. Life is a journey that has to have its own path but have a little fun along the way and don’t get extremely serious. Your mental health is the top goal, it’s your temple so don’t pollute it. I believe the recipe to finding yourself is to be able to be creative and co-exist with like minded people who see the good and bad in you and show you the light even when you don’t see it . In school we are taught a lesson and then given a test but in life we are given a test from which we learn our lessons . So I believe the only way forward in life is to keep evolving and being your authentic self.” For her story of competing in the Miss Earth, she says that her friends, family and colleagues had played a major role. They pushed her forward and inspired her to follow her calling. “ It was an accidental, universally conspired entry which resulted in the most monumental event of my life. This event is the most special thing for me as it changed my life forever.” “ Attract what you expect, reflect what you desire, become what you respect and mirror what you admire.” SEARCH Karishma Kotak Playing Her Innings In Fashion, Sports And Fitness COVER STORIES Musings With Maryam Zolghadr COVER STORIES Madhura Naik talks about the Life of an Actress COVER STORIES Kavya Thapar And Her Versatile Acting Career That Cuts Across Regional Lines COVER STORIES Ahsaas Channa Talks About Her Mother Being The Inspiration Behind Her Career COVER STORIES POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Komica Anchal: A Journey Of Perseverance, Passion, And Possibilities 11 September 2024 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma From Dream To Reality: The Rise Of Sameer Mark In The Fashion Industry 9 September 2024 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma From The Silver Screen To Human Rights Advocacy With Award Winning Actress Sheena Chohan 21 August 2024 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma The Journey Of Shilpa Joshi: A Musical Odyssey 6 August 2024 COVER STORIES RELATED POSTS Advertisement
