  • Suhani Shah Celebrating 25 years in Mentalism

by Naisargi Devdher Suhani Shah Celebrating 25 years in Mentalism 2 September 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement Even before understanding what fame and glamour is, a child understood what magic is! It was 26 years ago, that a 6 year old Suhani saw a ‘magic show’ and dreamt of becoming a magician. This marks her 25th year performing mentalism, as she still carries the charm and innocence that 7 year old Suhani did. Talking of it, there is a lot of glamour, a factor of ‘wow’, self-love and over confidence associated with the career transition. To which, she elaborately explains, “As a child, I kept talking of magic and fortunately, my parents honestly were extremely considerate about it. You know, my father spent 6 months looking for a tutor and basically putting across magic as my educational development, because somewhere my inclination towards magic was visible. And that was the age when I didn’t even understand what glamour or for a fact even fame is! So when my first show was grandly put about, the then Chief Minister attended it. That was exactly how my career began. So for me on a personal level, fame has been a part of my career, so has glamour, it existed then, it persists now, so never does overconfidence seem to be very much an issue to say.” Putting it simply, she brought about the point of growing up with talent. Queerly, to think of, does a child always begin with imagining that she would be a part of a mega industry rather than just performing for herself? That anticipation of where she’s being lead to marks a crazy confusion in the life of an artist. “To be completely honest, yes, I did think that the talent is leading me to some place grand. I could foresee my career with magic, art and what not around. However, I truly did never expect this transition, you know! I did never know I would be assimilated with a streaming, or filming culture. That for me has not just given me a new hypo graph to live up to but also, something I truly wanted to do. Having youthful energy, I wrote books over mentalism and magic, I had art shows to perform but none of it made me as satisfied as being a part of this industry makes me. That is the exact meaning for transition and unknowingly yet beautiful, I get pushed and mingled in the industry.” When the transition of career happens to be natural, there are a lot of changes one needs to adapt to. There was a demand for the talent I held, but it was never a career that I would want to perform. Thus till the pandemic hit, I really didn’t think of it. However, when the pandemic hit, the work stopped, I was barred from home and that was exactly when I began with YouTube streaming and making videos. So the transition was never sudden, it just happened slowly. I had to adapt, accept and identify that I was away from the stage, I had screens to connect with people to, and performing live had a very different sense. That adaption was actually challenging because it brought me to a stage where I had to recognise my career scope and recognize what exactly was to be done. You know, I didn’t go to school, I didn’t go to college, I was just working all the while, and now I was here where I had to sit and just do nothing. That was more challenging for me. So I remember, starting off with an online show, ‘Magic being performed online’, that somewhat pulled me through the pandemic dilemma. While streaming on YouTube was the exact game changer I was looking for because looking back, I was having fun doing it. Little did I know that it was the beginning of a novel spectrum of my career!” All this while, Suhani mentioned the Pandemic to be a revolution in all senses However, through all of this happening, there is a high doubt of where art forms are leading to when it comes to India, because there's a lot to do with glamour here as well. “A bit contrary to what you said, India is filled with art forms with diverse roots. It’s not even similar, there is a difference in totality. And truly, in my understanding, we are always attracted to glamour. You see a beautiful rose, its glamour, desire of living in a house I glamour, and that will always be appreciated but here it’s more about how you understand art to be. Because art is also glamorous, art also is beautiful and that goes hand in hand. The window to the world during the pandemic was their phones. People were seeing direction, cinematography and all of it came from art. And whatever the screens passed on to people was art. People eventually started valuing art, realising that when nothing works, and its art that they can rely on.” Mentioning the importance of art and growing up with it, there is a lot of superstitious association with magic. Dealing with which stands out from any coaching. “Since childhood, I was looked at as a ‘DEVI’, saying I can heal everything possible. Earlier, people confused me with a musician and there I had to sort out the exact meaning of a magician, after which, a lot of people came to me asking me to heal their illnesses or asking me solve their problems. This was exactly what shifted me away from any sort of superstitious association since childhood. I give ted talks speaking against superstitions. Hence I always say, ‘I CANNOT READ MINDS, I CAN CREATE AN ILLUSION OF READING MIND’.” Just adding illusions cannot definitely define it as magic. However, according to Suhani, Guzaarish is a movie that utilises pieces of magical elements. That’s exactly where she leaves you with… Wonder how to deal with magic, because every potential of yours is magic if you know how to use it!! • How To Create A Capsule Wardrobe

by Priti Sharma How To Create A Capsule Wardrobe 7 November 2022 FASHION Advertisement Despite having a wardrobe full of clothing, do you ever tell yourself, "I have nothing to wear." I know firsthand how irritating it can be to have an overflowing wardrobe full of clothes we may not particularly enjoy wearing. Can you genuinely say that you wear every piece of clothing in your closet? If the answer is no, keep reading to learn how to begin effectively cleaning your closet and creating a wardrobe that you will want to wear every day. But first, what is a capsule wardrobe anyway? A capsule wardrobe is a collection of carefully chosen, classic pieces that never go out of style. (Your closet already has a capsule wardrobe.) The things in a capsule wardrobe are the ones you adore wearing every day. Many minimalists contend that a capsule wardrobe should consist of between 30 and 50 things for the whole year, but I disagree. A capsule wardrobe should be created around your lifestyle and comprise items that you enjoy wearing and that make you happy. How to start a capsule wardrobe? Step 1: Analyze your style and lifestyle: Knowing our style is the first step to creating a wardrobe you will enjoy. You can take a style quiz to gain a general idea of what kind dominates in your life. Step 2: Track what you like to wear for 30 days: There are many ways to do this, either by manually tracking down what you wore every day in a notebook or in the note app on your mobile phone whenever and wherever and whatever comes to your mind while working or walking through the park, or while listening to some music. Step 3: The closet clean-out! You will have a better idea of your existing capsule wardrobe that currently exists in your closet after tracking what you wore effortlessly for 30 days. There is no magic number; creating a capsule wardrobe is about choosing the clothes you want to wear. Of course, you'll have gorgeous formal gowns you wear to weddings once a year, as well as your athletic wear and loungewear. They are not included in your capsule. Think of your capsule as your “go-to” rack of things you love to wear every day based on your lifestyle. The second pile represents the bulk of the job; it is now time to classify the remaining items. Before organizing, examine each thing to ensure that the idea of wearing it in the future makes you joyful. I would just get rid of it if it makes you feel guilty or like you have to wear it for "x reason." Sort your clothing into these categories: all-year fundamentals, Summer and spring, autumn and winter, and sell/donate pile. Keep track of the number of things you have in each category before deciding whether to create an annual or seasonal capsule. Although every one of us has a different lifestyle, it's crucial to continue wearing the clothes we enjoy. I personally enjoy creating seasonal capsule wardrobes because it declutters my closet by putting away the things I won't be using, and it allows me to view everything I have for the current season and think of new ways to style and wear the same items. I find it really energizing and enjoyable that when the seasons change, your old clothing transforms into your "new capsule" without the need to shop! Step 4: Define your colors / create a color palette to guide your future shopping: When creating a capsule wardrobe, a color palette is something optional but highly helpful because it serves as a shopping reference. Following the experiment of wearing 30 different products for 30 days, you will discover which colors you like to wear again. These colors may then be added to your color palette reference guide, giving you a direction for choosing colors when you go shopping in the future. Step 5: Map out your capsule and create a wishlist for missing items: It's time to develop a mental or visual map of your capsule or capsules to assist you to purchase less now that you've chosen your basics and given what you don't enjoy. If, after categorizing your wardrobe, you discovered that many of your "all-year staples" can be worn in the fall and winter, you no longer have an excuse to buy a new sweater. Instead, you should experiment with layering and set a goal for yourself to wear your sweaters throughout the year. Making a checklist of how many additional tops you believe you could need can help you finish your spring capsule wardrobe. You might have discovered during your closet clean-out that you don't have enough new and breathable tops for spring. Step 6: Rewear before you have the urge to buy again: This is the stage when you learn to be more creative, thus I believe it to be my favorite. I try to make myself put on an item from my closet that I haven't worn in a while whenever I feel the want to purchase it. It's acceptable to just get rid of it and donate it to someone who might enjoy and re-wear it more than you if you try to re-wear anything and you don't feel confident or attractive in it. We never have the perfect closet, and occasionally we hang onto things because we are not used to letting go. Step 7: Invest in quality over quantity, your clothes shouldn’t cost as much as your cup of coffee, and here’s why: Learn about the fibers used in the clothing you buy, as well as the implications of tossing away clothing, if you want to become a more deliberate consumer. Did you know that 85% of textile waste in the USA ends up in landfills? Rewearing is the main way to lessen your fashion footprint. If you must purchase anything new, consider buying used items or supporting firms that are ethical, sustainable, and that use natural and organic textiles as well as recycled materials when producing their clothing. Sometimes, environmentally friendly clothing may cost more than conventional clothing, but this is only because environmentally friendly manufacturers pledge to pay their employees a fair salary and to use only premium, natural, or recycled materials. Your clothing shouldn't be as expensive as your morning brew. We must develop the habit of paying reasonable rates for goods. #Fashion #Capsule Wardrobe #Clothing #collection #Style #Colours SEARCH The Rich Heritage of Indian Handloom FASHION Fashion In The 19th Century FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION The Influence Of Kanye West On Fashion FASHION K-Pop Fashion And Its Impact On Global Wardrobe FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Dubai Fashion Week Day Five: Emerging Talents, Cultural Heritage, And Global Fashion Dialogues 14 September 2024 FASHION By Anushka Sharma Marina Ignjat: A Journey Through Style And Travel 13 September 2024 FASHION By Anushka Sharma Anaya Collection Unveils "Gaudí’s Reverie" At Dubai Fashion Week: A Fusion Of Love, Technique, And Playful Elegance 11 September 2024 FASHION By Anushka Sharma Hebajasmi Unveils Captivating New Collection For SS25: A Masterpiece Of Art And Fashion 10 September 2024 FASHION RELATED POSTS

  • Purab Kohli’s Cinematic Expedition Through Films, Travel And Self-Expression

by Akshra Khandelwal Purab Kohli’s Cinematic Expedition Through Films, Travel And Self-Expression 22 September 2023 COVER STORIES Advertisement As the midyear sun casts its warm glow upon us, we find ourselves caught in a whirlwind of moments, events, and experiences that shape our lives. For actor extraordinaire Purab Kohli, these last six months have been a whirlwind, an exhilarating rollercoaster of creativity and exploration that has left him both exhilarated and eager for more. As we settle in for a candid chat with the versatile actor, we delve into his recent adventures, cinematic escapades, wanderlust, and thoughts on life, work, and style. "It's gone by really fast. It's been quite a busy first half of the year," Kohli begins with a boyish grin, his eyes sparkling with the energy that has propelled him through a bustling six months. "I've been in three films back to back," he continues, recounting his dynamic journey since March. The actor's journey unfolded like a tapestry, with each thread representing a different cinematic endeavour. "Putul," he mentions a film that swept him into its narrative embrace throughout March and April. Followed by "Let There Be Love," a project that captivated him throughout May and June. And then there was "Ahutti," a venture that spanned from June to July, inviting him into another realm of storytelling. And then, the much-needed interlude - a holiday that rejuvenated his spirit and encapsulated the essence of family. "That brings us to seven months of the year, more than half the year. And raring to go for the next five months, looking forward to the next five months," Kohli asserts, his enthusiasm palpable. Speaking of cinematic ventures, Kohli's eyes light up as he delves into the intriguing world of "Blind." "It was a film released on Jio Cinema last month," he begins, recounting his role in the narrative alongside Sonam Kapoor. The film's chilling premise casts him as an evil, serial-killing driver, a role that contrasts starkly with his pleasant demeanour. The journey of filming "Blind" was marked by challenges, notably the lockdown restrictions and the winter cold of Glasgow, where the shooting took place. "A lot of the shooting of Blind was done in the dark at night," Kohli shares, his voice tinged with reminiscence of the intense experience. "When you see the film, you'll realise it was freezing conditions." But amidst the challenges, camaraderie blossomed among the small crew, creating an atmosphere of creativity and connection that kept spirits high. As the conversation steers toward his love for travel, Kohli's eyes light up like a child's Christmas morning. "Yes, of course, I love to travel. Who doesn't love to travel?" he exclaims. But the seasoned traveller has found himself favouring road and train journeys overflights, citing the exhausting ordeal of airports. "I wish someone could come up with an easier experience of airports," he muses, echoing a sentiment shared by many. For Kohli, travel is an avenue for self-discovery, a means to unearth uncharted facets of oneself. "I love seeing new places. I love discovering new parts about myself in these new places," he declares, an explorer at heart. A seasoned globetrotter, Kohli eagerly unveils the top contenders on his bucket list. Having recently ticked off Norway and Scandinavia from the list, he now sets his sights on South America, with Brazil, in particular, capturing his imagination. "Brazil is the next one to check off," he shares, his eyes glittering with the anticipation of new horizons. Peering into the future, Kohli opens up about upcoming releases and his plans for the months ahead. With a handful of releases on the horizon, he takes a step back to embrace family and recharge before diving back into cinema. Speaking of his journey in the industry, Kohli acknowledges the ebb and flow that characterises any creative endeavour. "The industry is always welcoming to anyone who has a reasonable success rate," he reflects. "But yes, to me, it has been very welcoming. It's been very open and loving for the last 25 years." A topic that couldn't be overlooked is Kohli's signature salt-and-pepper look, which he wears with authority and pride. "The salt-and-pepper look gives me some age," he chuckles, reflecting on the visual impact of his facial hair. He shares style advice and underscores the importance of comfort and authenticity in one's appearance. "Any style starts from knowing what makes you feel comfortable and wearing that proud," he advises, reminding us that confidence is the heart of true style. As our conversation with Purab Kohli draws to a close, we're left with a glimpse into the life of a man who thrives on exploration, creativity, and authenticity. His journey through the cinematic landscape mirrors the path of life itself - one marked by challenges, camaraderie, and a ceaseless pursuit of new horizons. And just as he leaves his mark on the silver screen, his insights into travel, style, and self-discovery leave an indelible impression on our hearts and minds. • The Modernity Of The Fashion Sphere

by Shreya Satish Jorapur The Modernity Of The Fashion Sphere 19 February 2023 FASHION Advertisement Glamour, grandeur, glory… The fashion industry encapsulates these three G’s in an intriguing way, which has gradually integrated into our persistent everyday culture too. People are consistently amazed by the extravagance of fashion show, the models, the intricate designs, and their way of living. However, there are two sides of every coin and so is the case here. On the flip side of beauty lies all the perseverance and hardships that lead to it. Let’s discuss the multitude of aspects involved in this industry, assessing the repercussions and effects alike. The treatment of models in the industry is a conflict-inducing topic which can not be generalized. Acknowledgement of the body image issues, disordered eating behaviours, and mental turmoil that accompanies the occupation is very important. The repetitive cycles and beliefs that are ingrained in these models can be detrimental to their journey. In recent times, such issues have been brought to light and attempts towards redemption are being made by companies and authorities. Appreciable steps have been taken regarding inclusivity of gender, race, and body types. There is a plethora of diversity that can be observed in the ramps of today- walkers of different nationalities, identities, and bodies are celebrated and recognized in a widespread manner. Fashion represents cultures and creates a symphony. Heritage and history are also components in fashion. The efficiency, and most importantly, creativity of designers is showcased amazingly. ‘Over the Top’ and ‘Camp’ themes are in trend recently. Along with this, people have become more open to gender-neutral clothing and non-rigidity in fashion. Innovation plays a key role in keeping the audience engaged. Designers and distributers are assured in the popularity of non-conventional styles which majorly appeal to the youth of the time. Fashion has become a form of self expression too. Thousands of people use their clothing, accessories, and even make-up related endeavours to express their convictions, orientations, solidarities and distinct styles. It is an inclusive resort to tangible expressions of the self. Fashion can also be viewed as an art form. It stems from creativity, it blooms into something physical, and causes impression and amusement. Sometimes, even a pleasant overwhelm. The fashion industry has a growing scope for careers and educaton too. Students majoring in fashion for their degrees have multiple opportunities to flourish and prove themselves, be it amidst the public eye or behind the scenes. It is an impressive and unique path to lead towards. Events like the Met Gala, the Paris Fashion Week, and many others around the world provoke demand. Also, personality and beauty pageants like Miss Universe, Miss World, etc, along with their national level counterparts are huge factors too. Movies like ‘Fashion’ by Madhur Bhandarkar explore the personal journeys of models, designers, company leaders, and more, It is a well-rounded and eye-opening narration. Another movie with a personal narration of a prominent name and luxurious brand is ‘Coco Before Chanel’. The song ‘Victoria’s Secret’ by Jax is a call-out to the harmful standards and detections set up. It highlights the ‘Heads’ of the coin. • How Soha Ali Balances Authenticity With Content Creation

by Akshra Khandelwal How Soha Ali Balances Authenticity With Content Creation 1 September 2023 FASHION Advertisement In the ever-evolving realm of social media, where trends rise and fall like fleeting waves, there emerges a dynamic influencer who navigates this digital landscape with grace and innovation. Soha Ali, a name synonymous with creativity and authenticity, graciously sat down for an exclusive interview, offering a glimpse into her journey, inspirations, and aspirations. "It's going pretty well, by God's grace," Soha beams, setting the tone for our conversation. She reflects on the recent trend that swept through social media, the "Barbie mania," a phenomenon that captured the virtual world's attention for a month. With a chuckle, she admits, "It was good fun while it lasted, but I'm relieved it's getting over now!" Beyond the ephemeral trends, Soha's career is on a steady ascent. Transitioning content creation from a passion to her full-time pursuit has opened doors to refine her art and connect with her audience on a deeper level. Rewinding the clock to 2020, Soha reminisces about the birth of her journey. "It was in 2020 when short-form video content on social media platforms was just taking off, with TikTok taking the lead," she shares. The platform's meteoric rise was marked by its subsequent ban, leading many content creators to pivot to Instagram. For Soha, this shift marked a pivotal moment. "I remember posting my first Reel in late 2020 just out of curiosity, which I like to call a happy accident. It blew up," she recounts, the spark of that accidental success still evident in her eyes. Since that serendipitous start, she's found her purpose in content creation—an avenue that offers community, creativity, and financial stability. Her content palette is as diverse as her influences, ranging from beauty and skincare to entertainment and lifestyle, all underscored by a strong focus on Indian fashion and aesthetics. "My phone is my workstation when it comes to planning my content," Soha reveals. "I note what other creators are doing, current trends, what my audience asks of me through comments and DMs, and other ideas I get while browsing through Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest." This meticulously crafted approach is a testament to her dedication to delivering quality content that resonates. Reflecting on her Evolution, Soha shares, "When I first started making content, it was primarily reactionary, heavily influenced by what others like me were doing and current trends." Yet, growth beckoned, and she embraced a more insightful and informative content style. "Over time, as I learned more about content creation, my present and potential audience, and what I would like to show people vs. what they want or need, it evolved to incorporate more helpful content like skincare, haircare, informed monologues about issues I felt were important, makeup tips, etc." Soha's Evolution extends to her tools and techniques. "It also became more professional since I just used my phone and a ring light when I started, but now I use more and more equipment and hire professionals for significant shoots." The journey from smartphone to studio symbolises her commitment to delivering polished, engaging content that captivates her audience. Amidst her trove of beauty insights, Soha imparts a gem of wisdom: "Apply makeup through your fingers and not a brush whenever possible. It makes it easier to spread, gives a more even finish, and helps you understand the correct amount." Her advice is grounded in practicality and self-care, evident in a creator who knows her craft's nuances. As someone frequently on the go, Soha reveals the essentials that find a place in her bag. "My trusted sunscreen, lipstick, mini perfume, a wooden comb, and some wet wipes," she lists, a minimalist kit that ensures she's well-prepared without compromising her signature style. In the realm of aspirations, Soha's eyes light up with a dream. "My dream collab (and please don't judge me for it!) is to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali," she confesses with an endearing laugh. Her admiration for the filmmaker's visual artistry and character-driven narratives is palpable. "I absolutely love his films and his style of creating vivid visual art," she shares, her voice carrying a tinge of excitement. Such an opportunity would be a fusion of her two loves—content creation and cinematic storytelling. Amidst her achievements, Soha humbly imparts a piece of wisdom for budding creators: "There's nothing more rewarding than a free conscience as a creator and knowing you're doing the best you can without compromising anything or being what you are not." Her advice echoes her journey, marked by authenticity, growth, and a commitment to her craft. As our conversation with Soha Ali draws to a close, it's evident that her path is one defined by resilience, creativity and an unwavering belief in her art. With each post and each interaction, she's crafting a digital legacy that speaks not just to trends but to the essence of self-expression. In a world characterised by rapid change, Soha stands as a beacon of authenticity, reminding us all that during the digital storm, it's the genuine voices that truly resonate. • A Journey Shaped By Courage, Creativity, And Social Media With Aditi Sharma

By Anushka Sharma A Journey Shaped By Courage, Creativity, And Social Media With Aditi Sharma 19 October 2024 COVER STORIES Advertisement In a realm where opportunity often knocks in unexpected ways, Aditi Sharma's story shines as a beacon of resilience and creativity. Known for her vibrant presence on screen and her fearless stint on "Khatron Ke Khiladi," Aditi’s journey is a blend of passion, social media savvy, and sheer determination. To Fearless Beginnings: Conquering Khatron Ke Khiladi: Starting the conversation with her experience on the adrenaline-pumping reality show, Aditi shared how "Khatron Ke Khiladi" was nothing short of a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Handling scorpions and jumping into deep waters was daunting, yet exhilarating. It was a test of physical endurance and mental strength, but Aditi embraced every challenge. Despite her short run on the show, she left with memories that transformed her. “Most of the things were very scary,” she reflects. “But it’s also real fun because, in the end, you’re doing something you never thought possible. I used to not be afraid of water, but after the show, I have a new respect for deep water. It was a different feeling.” From YouTube to Stardom: A Dream Takes Flight: Unlike many who set their sights on acting through traditional channels, Aditi's journey began in the digital realm. During her college days, she dreamed of being on screen but didn’t know where to begin. Starting on YouTube while studying journalism and mass communication, she hoped her presence would someday lead to bigger opportunities. And it did. Her first break came with a Clean & Clear face wash commercial, which took her to Bangkok on her first international trip. That advertisement opened doors for more projects, and social media played a crucial role in her rise to fame. “Social media was everything for me,” she says. “It’s how people discovered me, from YouTube videos to getting shortlisted for magazine shoots. That was my entry into the industry.” Navigating the Roller Coaster of Life in Entertainment: Aditi admits that her career has been a roller coaster, marked by highs and lows. The nature of the industry is unpredictable, with periods of intense work followed by moments of waiting for the next big opportunity. Yet, Aditi has embraced the ride, finding joy in every experience. Her role in Yeh Jaadu Hai Jinn Ka remains one of her most cherished memories. The magical storyline, combined with the physical demands of the role—such as performing stunts and working with harnesses—challenged her creatively and pushed her boundaries. “Every project I’ve worked on holds a special place in my heart, but that show was particularly close to me. It was a creative playground where imagination ran wild.” All About The Love for Travel and Finding Balance: Though her schedule is often packed with 12-14 hour shoots, Aditi carves out time for her other passion—travel. She fondly recalls her trips to the Maldives, a place she calls “breathtaking,” for its serenity and beauty. Whether it’s enjoying a romantic getaway or simply relaxing with friends, Maldives remains her favorite destination. Despite the long working hours, Aditi emphasizes the importance of balance. She begins each day with a 30-minute workout to boost her energy, which she credits for keeping her physically and mentally fresh. Her night routine is just as essential, helping her unwind and recharge for the next day. To Looking Ahead: Aditi’s Ambitions for the Future: When asked about her future goals, we realized that Aditi is private, but hopeful. She aspires to work on larger projects, including collaborations with directors like Imtiaz Ali and Neeraj Pandey. “I see myself growing in both my personal and professional life, but I believe in keeping my dreams close until they come true.” Aditi’s journey, from her YouTube days to becoming a household name, is a testament to the power of perseverance, innovation, and adaptability. In an age where social media can be a gateway to dreams, Aditi is proof that with the right mindset, anything is possible. Her advice to budding actors and creators? “Social media has made things easier, but you still have to put in the work. It’s about making the right use of it, and if you fit the bill, you’ll get the role.” In a fast-evolving industry, Aditi Sharma remains a dynamic force—an actress who not only embraces challenges but also rewrites the narrative of what it means to succeed in today’s digital world. • Embracing Beauty: An Inspiring Journey Of Art With The Makeup Influencer “Kannikka Ahuja”

by Akshra Khandelwal Embracing Beauty: An Inspiring Journey Of Art With The Makeup Influencer “Kannikka Ahuja” 27 August 2023 FASHION Advertisement In a world where makeup artistry and beauty influencers reign supreme, some individuals have mastered the art and dedicated themselves to sharing their passion with others. Among them stands Kannikka Ahuja, a charismatic and talented makeup influencer whose journey of self-discovery and relentless pursuit of her dreams has touched the lives of countless individuals. In an exclusive interview with us, Kannikka Ahuja shares her experiences, challenges, and aspirations as she navigates the world of beauty and self-expression. "I'm doing very well. Thank you so much for asking. I've absolutely loved the work I and my team are doing. We're switching up our content, and it's been so much fun. On the personal front, things are finally getting better, and I'd love to talk more about it once it's all settled," Kannikka shares with a smile, embodying the strength and resilience that have defined her journey. Her path into the world of makeup influencing was far from conventional. As a child, Kannikka admits she was tomboyish and had little knowledge of makeup. However, as a teenager, something within her changed, and she deeply desired to learn the art of makeup. Embarking on this path of self-discovery, Kannikka started with self-makeup courses from skilled makeup artists in Delhi. But a pivotal moment after her separation propelled her to take a leap of faith and pursue her passion professionally. Kannikka flew to New York City to train at the prestigious Makeup Designory (MUD), setting the stage for her remarkable journey. The true inspiration for Kannikka's foray into the world of makeup influencing came when she met a bride during her freelancing days. The bride's grandmother, impressed with Kannikka's work, remarked humorously that she couldn't see all those layers of makeup that Kannikka was charging for. This lighthearted exchange sparked an idea in Kannikka's mind – to share her passion for makeup on the internet and teach others the art she had come to love. Thus, the transformation of Kannikka Ahuja into a beauty content creator and influencer began. "The moment someone from my online family messages me or comments on my posts that my videos and story tutorials have helped them learn makeup or debunked some makeup/skincare myths for them is when I feel the happiest about being a makeup influencer or, as I like to call it, a beauty content creator," Kannikka shares enthusiastically. Her joy lies not only in her creative expression but also in her positive impact on her audience. However, being a makeup influencer comes with its own set of challenges. One of the significant hurdles that Kannikka and other content creators face is the ever-changing algorithm of social media platforms. The constant influx of new launches, trends, and viral products can be overwhelming, leading to a desire to accumulate more than necessary – a pitfall she warns against as it can become a toxic habit. Kannikka shares some of her top makeup tips and hacks to offer her readers valuable insights. She emphasises the importance of skin preparation before makeup application to achieve a flawless finish. Waiting a minute between different skincare layers ensures optimal product absorption and prevents makeup from appearing patchy or pilling. These fundamental tips form the foundation of any successful makeup routine. For those looking to establish a skincare or makeup routine, Kannikka provides her priority recommendations. She advises beginners to include a gentle cleanser, a Hyaluronic Acid serum to be applied on damp skin, a suitable moisturiser based on their skin type, and most importantly, SPF for daytime protection. In the realm of makeup, she suggests investing in essential products like concealer, cream blush, loose powder, kohl pencil, mascara, and creamy matte nude lipstick, all of which contribute to a versatile and polished look. And, of course, a brow pencil, as brows can make or break the overall appearance. As someone who continues to draw inspiration from her peers, Kannikka shares that international makeup artists and influencers like Tati Westbrook, Nikkie Tutorials, and Rose Siard have played an influential role in her journey. Additionally, she expresses gratitude for Indian beauty creators like Shreya Jain, Malvika Sitlani, and Srishti Bhatia, who have inspired her growth and evolution in the field. Looking towards the future, Kannikka has grand aspirations. "The biggest goal that I have for myself is to represent India globally; I'm manifesting it through this interview. I want to evolve the way India does makeup and sees beauty. And lastly, I want to make my parents proud of my achievements and success while being extremely down-to-earth and humble since that matters the most!" she declares with determination. As our conversation with Kannikka Ahuja comes to a close, we are left inspired by her journey of self-discovery, resilience, and unwavering passion for makeup. Her success as a makeup influencer and beauty content creator stems from her exceptional skills and her genuine desire to empower and uplift others in their own beauty journeys. Kannikka's story is a testament to the transformative power of following one's heart and embracing the beauty within and around us. • What’s FOMO?

by Anadi Gupta What’s FOMO? 1 October 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement FOMO is an acronym which stands for the expression Fear of Missing Out. It is an anxious feeling you get when you feel other people might be having a good time without you. Majority of the youngsters these days face such kinds of problems. It was also officially added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2013. It is certainly a terrible thing to feel. It makes you always keep checking social media until you stop feeling missed out. You do these things to make yourself feel better and to no longer feel left out. Sometimes it makes you feel anxious and sometimes it doesn’t but most importantly where does it come from? Is there something we can do to stay away from feeling this way? These days people tend to check their social media right after they wake up, before they sleep and between every important work which means almost the whole day. FOMO comes from unhappiness and unhappiness comes from comparing one another on social media. We need to realize that whatever we see on social media does not define reality. There is a huge difference between social media and reality. Everything seems perfect on social media; everybody is living a perfect life out there but we should always remember that we are only seeing what these people are wanting us to see. As Swarthmore professor Barry Schwartz writes in his excellent book, The Paradox of Choice: Why More Is Less : “Stop paying so much attention to how others around you are doing” is easy advice to give, but hard to follow, because the evidence of how others are doing is pervasive, because most of us seem to care a great deal about status, and finally, because access to some of the most important things in life (for example, the best colleges, the best jobs, the best houses in the best neighbourhoods) is granted only to those who do better than their peers. Nonetheless, social comparison seems sufficiently destructive to our sense of well-being that it is worthwhile to remind ourselves to do it less. It is basically a rollercoaster of emotions. It is also possible that maybe you’ve also put an edited version of yourself on social media and it would’ve made someone else felt worse about them. Who knows, right? The worst thing is that we try to find happiness in others instead of finding it inside ourselves. I know it might sound cliché, but nobody can make us as happy as ourselves. Self validation is the key to self confidence but we only tend to see the bad in ourselves and we never appreciate those things in us which we should. The person who overthinks is more likely to be depressed, anxious and stressed. The one thing we do not try is preaching gratitude. Instead of finding problems in everything, if we start being thankful for the things we have, we would be much happier. I know it is not as easy as it may sound but at least we can try. Just live every moment and appreciate every little thing you’re lucky to have and hang in there, you’ve got this. #FOMO #happiness #Anxiety #Reality #socialmedia #gratitude #acceptance SEARCH Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern SOCIETY Looking Through The Excellence Of ‘Jaali’ Architecture SOCIETY Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing SOCIETY Festival of Stones SOCIETY The Pygmalion Effect SOCIETY POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Uniting Voices, Shaping Futures: Dive Into Mun 2.0 At NIT Patna 8 September 2024 SOCIETY By Anushka Sharma These Healthy Habits Can Lower Your Risk Of Depression 31 August 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak A Glance In The Kshitij’23: A Euphoric Escapade 26 January 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak Mithibai Kshitij: Epitome Of Diverse Social Cause Empowerment 24 January 2024 SOCIETY RELATED POSTS
