  • Priya Ahuja gets candid about her life behind the screen

by Aarti Singh Priya Ahuja gets candid about her life behind the screen 8 October 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement A crucial part of a legendary Indian sitcom that has been ruling our screens for years now; Priya Ahuja aka. Rita Reporter has first-handedly faced the uncertainties of the industry. “There is no guarantee or any mantra of getting successful.” She has been a witness to how the industry requires tedious and copious amounts of hard work. Hard work that more so than often goes hand-in-hand with good luck. Priya feels that social media is one factor that has indefinitely made a huge difference for people today. “Few things are like blessings, say social media for that matter. Instagram helps so much; you can showcase your talent in a lot of ways, you can make reels, portray different shades of yourself. You don’t need to rush and make portfolios and look for the casting director. Social media has made it very easy that you can approach a lot of casting people directly through Instagram and share your work directly.” Her love for her work can clearly be seen in her deep-seated understanding of the same. She feels that the most challenging aspect of her job is also the most beautiful aspect and that is “The Show Must Go On.” “Whatever happens in your personal life, you have to get up next day and shoot. Whatever circumstances you face; in your family or in your personal life, you have to give your best shot when you’re working. So, I feel that’s the most challenging yet the most beautiful part of being an actor” When not busy with any projects, Priya enjoys reading. “The book that I love the most and has made a lot of impact in my life is The Alchemist. Really really love that book.” When asked about the people that have the most influence on her, she revealed that there are a lot of inspiring people like Boman Irani, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Dilip Joshi. These actors who are so brilliant at their jobs, someone started late, someone got success a little late, they motivate Priya a lot. “It’s okay just keep working hard. One day- someday- you are going to get your due, if you’re good at your job.” And it isn’t a hidden fact that at times, it gets tough in showbiz. In times like these, Priya likes to believe that one day she will get it. “That faith in my hard work, in my talent, that one day, someday, I’m also going to be there. I am going to achieve that. And I know I am going to do that. So that keeps me going. It’s okay if yesterday wasn’t that great, it’s okay if today is just ok ok. But surely, tomorrow is going to be beautiful.” On a heartfelt note, Priya revealed that she doesn’t believe in failures. According to her, a failure isn’t a failure if you learn something from it. Yet still, one regret she’ll always have is her short span on the hit serials Balika Vadhu and Saubhagyavati Bhava . “I was part of Balika Vadhu, it was a beautiful character; and also, Saubhagyavati Bhava . Both the shows, really really hit. But unfortunately, my track got over too early. I shot for very less days in both the shows. So yeah that regret I think I’ll have somewhere.” She wishes she could play the two characters in the respective shows for a comparatively longer period. We were pleasantly surprised when Priya said that she doesn’t plan her life. “All I want is to stay an actor till my last breath. That is, you can say, my biggest aim or my biggest dream. I always, always, want to stay an actor. Of course I want to be more successful than what I am, I want to achieve way more, I want to perform a lot of different characters, want to do more and more challenging characters, roles in my life. That’s the only plan. I don’t know when and how things are going to shape up but I’m sure soon something amazing will happen in my life.” Moving onto the fitness aspect of her routine, Priya shared that she absolutely loves working out and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Everyone who follows her knows how big of an advocate she is of a healthy active lifestyle. “I would love to clarify this, that I am not into fitness because I want to stay slim. I am into fitness because I want to stay healthy. Getting up without any support, so that when I get up, my body shouldn’t hurt. When I grow old, I don’t want to walk with support, up until a certain age. Maybe after a certain age, I’ll have to, but until then I would like to stay extremely fit so I can take care of myself.” In conversation about women empowerment, Priya disclosed that Feminism and Women Empowerment isn’t limited to wearing what you feel like wearing, behaving in a certain way, acting chic; Feminism isn’t about being ahead of men. It is about feeling empowered from within. “It is about the choices that you make in life. You have the ability to make the right choices and decisions about your life. You feel secure in a society, you feel powerful, you feel like you are an equal decision- maker in your family as much as the man in your family is.” Talking about life away from work, Priya mentioned how most of her time is spent running behind her toddler. And when she is not running behind her toddler, she compensates that by running on the treadmill. Just kidding! When she’s not spending time with her son, she is usually working out. “Currently I started doing Zumba and I really really enjoy doing that. I am totally in love with it.” Wrapping up the interview, Priya mentioned some upcoming future projects that’ll be revealed in due time. “Please keep on showering your love and keep us in your prayers. Very soon you’ll see me in something amazing. As an actor, if you are my fan, all I can say is, promise that pretty soon I’m going to do something amazing and I won’t disappoint you. As an actor. • Adah Sharma, Sweetheart Since 1920

by Aparajita Jaiswal Adah Sharma, Sweetheart Since 1920 10 November 2021 Advertisement The first person that comes to our mind when we think of the words 'fun', 'spontaneous' and 'multifaceted talent' is Adah Sharma. We had the opportunity to sit down and chat with the outgoing and busy actor, who has many movies in various languages in her kitty. Adah exudes maior 'Girl-next door' energy in her latest interview with Aparajita Jaiswal as they discussed about completing a century in the industry, internet's sensation and beloved Radha Sharma, thoughts on fashion, OTT platforms and more. How and when exactly did you realize your passion for acting? What is the best part about being an actor? Throughout my schooling I truly enjoyed acting. I had taken part in theater and plays every now and then. I always wanted to experiment and try and be something else every other day. Whatever I was wanting to become, I was very serious about it. started practicing acrobatics because I wanted to join the circus, you won't believe me. I was so dedicated and serious about it. I graduated from a Kathak course because I wanted to become a dancer. When I wanted to become an actor, once again, I was very serious about it and if I put it quite plainly, all the skills I learnt along the way have come in handy in my acting career. I can only answer it based on my opinion, to me, it is absolutely the fact that I am allowed to be different people and personalities on-screen. Everybody adores the content you and Radha give us. What do you think of Radha's popularity Everyone adores Radha because she is the star-kid Radha Sharma. She is the first stuffed pillow to have her own Instagram. I am glad people are accepting and giving Radha the attention she deserves, however, it is not because of me. People admire her solely due to her talent and multiple expressions. (laughs) You have recently completed more than a decade since your entry in the industry. How has your experience been so far and how has the industry evolved so far? How would you describe your acting? I have actually completed a century in the industry! I have this hashtag that says #HundredYearsofAdahSharma because I started with the movie 1920 and we are currently in 2021.which makes it a hundred years. So it is safe to say I have been in the field longer than most veteran actors. I don't think I have aged for someone working since 1920 (laughs) it has to be the curious case of Adah. As for how I would describe my acting; I feel very fortunate to have bagged 1920 because I was able to prove that I can perform since our debut movie really makes a huge statement. Media and audience have been very kind and welcoming to me and so was my audience. I am very grateful for all the love and support people have given throughout these years, it really makes me feel very comfortable and more crazy I guess (haha). You have a very strong fashion game. Who would you consider as your style and fashion icon? For me, fashion is something that should be fun. When you start taking it too seriously it gets stressful and then there's no fun. Fashion is a part of my life and a part of me that I truly enjoy. If I am a part of a movie then I like sticking to the essence of the character based on how the character is written. On the other hand, I enjoy experimenting and trying out something | haven't done before in the case of fashion or magazine shoots. I also feel that what attracts my attention to someone else's style is when they have an inherent style of their own. One should be able to pick a style/hair style and make it their own, it would make it fun for themselves and make them look confident. I would say rather than strictly sticking to copying 'trends' one should have and play around with fashion. I would even say, don't be afraid of making mistakes, make mistakes in fashion because what might be a faux pas today might be in vogue tomorrow and vice versa. So you do you and have fun with fashion. Tell us about the toughest part of your work? And why do you think it is tough for you? The toughest part has to be, realizing that I am able to live my dream every single day. I enjoy every part of what I am doing, be it wearing amazing clothes or being a new character. Well, posing for selfies while savoring Bhel Puri….. life is tough! (haha, serious sarcasm intended). If anything you would be asked to change about your work, what would be that one thing? I consider myself at a very good phase in my career. I am being considered for really fun roles so right now I really do not wish to change anything. I am purely grateful for where I stand now. Now that OTT platforms are gaining traction among actors, what do you feel and do you see it as an opportunity to display your work? I have had an unremarkable OTT presence. I've previously been a part of a short-film Tinday, Moh which was released on OTT platforms. I played a bipolar character in Chuha Billi and a role in another OTT release entitled Holiday. I saw that my presence in Holiday drove more attention than most movies I have been a part of did. So, I make it a point to choose series, films or short stories that entertain, because when it is entertaining the medium of release doesn't matter because people would take efforts to watch it. So far as the content is good, people are hardly impacted by the medium. Whether they watch it on their phones or in multiplexes doesn't matter as long as they are enjoying the content. Once again, since I am very experimental and fun with work I want to try it all. Why does your Instagram Bio say "Actor/crow/Cow"? Yes, because when no one is watching I can turn into them. PS: but only when no one is watching. You made your singing debut in Tamil. How did you prepare yourself for singing, that too in an unfamiliar language? I have taken Piano and Carnatic music classes since a very young age So singing came pretty much easily and naturally. Though I enjoy singing and dancing. I really believe that acting is my first love. I would like to dance and sing as well. but WITH the acting. You have worked in different regional industries as well. How has that experience been? How different is it from working in mainstream Bollywood? If there's anything the pandemic has taught us, it is that if the content is good, everybody is going to watch it irrespective of the language and medium. From my experience. realized that it lies in the vision of the director as well. I have made a mark in the South Indian industry. My movies are also dubbed in Malayalam. I've been a part of Punjabi music videos. I see myself working in other regional movies as well. I am a part of an international action film which I am quite excited about. I am excited to try out all Indian languages and I would give foreign languages a chance as well. How do you prepare yourself for a role? What attracts you to a role now? It depends from role to role. Each role has its individual preparation needed. For instance, for my role in Commando, I was expected to speak Hindi with a Telugu tone to it, so I had an accent coach train me and for action movies I train accordingly. As for my South Indian movies, I like to read and reread and go well prepared to set since it is an unknown language. I like to read for my roles beforehand and go to set well prepared. It can be really stressful to receive lines on set. What attracts me to a role is something I haven't done before. What is next for you? Anything you can talk about? Any new movies in the talks? I have finished two Telugu films, one of which is a Girl action movie and the other movie is a sweet love story directed by Telugu actor Nani's sister Deepthi. It is produced by Nani as well. There is Commando 4 where I reprise my role as Bhavna Reddy once again. She is funnier and there's more action. I will also be seen in 'Aisa Waisa Pyaar' where I play the role opposite a dog named Happy. It is a lovestory between a dog and a cynical bitch. I really enjoyed playing it. There is Holiday 2 too. slated for release. There are few more in the works, but I am keeping fingers crossed for everything to work out. If you see yourself working with a celebrity, who would it be? I do not hold dreams because if I do that and it isn't fulfilled then I am bound to be re-born similar to Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om and become an actor once again and fulfill it in that incarnation. I just hope amazing filmmakers wake-up someday and say I wish Adah would sign our films. That's my dream! You recently played the role of a transgender person in "Pati, Patni aur Panga'. How challenging was it to you and what measures did you take to prepare for the role? 'Pati ,Patni aur Panga' is a very sweet love story and I hold it very dear to me. I was attracted to the role and the film because as human beings we tend to jump into conclusions and to make hasty judgements without knowing the entire story. So, it is a film that taught us not to be judgmental, which is a very earnest thought. Could we ever get a chance to see you working in Hollywood? Does that interest you? Like I mentioned earlier, one may never know. I am open with my options and wish to try and pursue acting in different roles and in different languages as long as the role, core, content and message of the film/series/short film are meaningful and something I haven't tried before. “JUST HOPE AMAZING FILMMAKERS WAKE-UP SOMEDAY AND SAY I WISH ADAH WOULD SIGN OUR FILMS. THAT'S MY DREAM!” SEARCH Karishma Kotak Playing Her Innings In Fashion, Sports And Fitness COVER STORIES Musings With Maryam Zolghadr COVER STORIES Madhura Naik talks about the Life of an Actress COVER STORIES Kavya Thapar And Her Versatile Acting Career That Cuts Across Regional Lines COVER STORIES Ahsaas Channa Talks About Her Mother Being The Inspiration Behind Her Career COVER STORIES POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Komica Anchal: A Journey Of Perseverance, Passion, And Possibilities 11 September 2024 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma From Dream To Reality: The Rise Of Sameer Mark In The Fashion Industry 9 September 2024 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma From The Silver Screen To Human Rights Advocacy With Award Winning Actress Sheena Chohan 21 August 2024 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma The Journey Of Shilpa Joshi: A Musical Odyssey 6 August 2024 COVER STORIES RELATED POSTS Advertisement

  • Skincare: The Ultimate Morning Beauty Routine

by Priti Sharma Skincare: The Ultimate Morning Beauty Routine 10 December 2022 FASHION Advertisement The most crucial thing you can do for your complexion is to develop a solid skincare routine, according to any dermatologist (or finicky beauty editor). And while everyone knows they should remove their makeup and use a night cream before bed, their morning skincare procedures are frequently inadequate. Blame it on our love of the snooze button, but sometimes getting out of bed, putting on some BB cream, and rushing out the door is all we can manage (grabbing coffee on the way). Now stop making excuses! We've created the ideal morning skincare regimen, which consists of 10 steps and will give you gloriously bright skin. We're confident you'll notice benefits if you stick to this strategy for two weeks. Step one: Exercise Even though you may not want to hear it, morning exercise promotes good circulation by boosting blood flow AND lowering stress. Your complexion will have a healthy shine for the rest of the day if you can get your heart rate up. We adore quick, furious HIIT exercises like the one from Cassey Ho because they're the ideal way to work up a sweat and improve the appearance of our skin. Step two: Hydrate Drink two glasses of water instead of two cups of coffee first thing in the morning (you'll likely need them straight after your workout). Your whole health depends on drinking adequate water, and dehydration is most noticeable in your skin's dullness, dryness, and breakouts. Making sure you hydrate in the morning makes you feel lovely and sets you up for successful skin for the rest of the day. Step three: Cleanse In order to remove any leftover germs, grime, or makeup from the previous night, you must wash your face in the morning. We enjoy cleansing our face in the morning with a mild oil-based cleanser to avoid overdrying it. Use lukewarm water to rinse; really hot or cold water might dry up your skin. With a clean towel reserved ONLY for drying your face, pat dry. Step four: Exfoliate You can exfoliate your face without a piece of expensive equipment if you're interested in beauty secrets. A cotton washcloth exfoliates the face just enough without irritating the skin and is soft enough to use daily. Then, wring out the washcloth so that it is damp but not dripping, and rub your face in tiny circular motions, beginning at your nose and moving outward to your temples, forehead, and chin. The massage movement will assist reduce any morning face puffiness and sloughing off any dead skin cells. Never again, swollen face! Step five: Cleanse again It's time for more cleansing, you heard us. You don't want to leave any dead skin on your face after exfoliation, do you? Without a doubt. This time, apply a very mild cream cleanser and massage it in tiny circular motions before rinsing it off thoroughly with warm water. Take a moment to admire how clean your skin is as you pat your face dry once more with a fresh face cloth. Step six: Tone This step is particularly crucial if you have oily or acne-prone skin since toner will help balance your skin and prevent it from overproducing oils. You don't want your skin to get dry, regardless of the kind, so be sure to select an alcohol-free solution. To find components that are calming for the skin, look for products that contain chamomile, hibiscus extract, and vitamin E. Apply toner on a cotton ball and gently sweep it over your face and neck to use. Do not ever wash your face! Step seven: Serum Serums are significant, as many people frequently enquire. Using a good serum is the best approach to get bright, beautiful skin since serums have higher concentrations of active ingredients than moisturizers or cleansers do. There is a specific recipe for you whether you want to repair sun damage, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, or even brighten your skin tone. A crucial hint is that applying the serum is just as essential as using the right recipe. Apply two to three pumps into your palm and gently rub it (if necessary) to warm and combine it between your palms. Then, gently apply the serum over your face, going from the nose outward. Do not rub. This makes sure that all those healthy elements really work their way into the body rather than just being spread around. Continue with the following step after waiting three to five minutes for the serum to absorb completely. Step eight: SPF Never, ever forgo sunscreen, even if it's cloudy or you plan to spend most of the day indoors. Let's prevent that if we can because even minor sun damage now can result in wrinkles, sunspots, a poor complexion, and probable melanoma in the future. Find a product with an SPF of at least 15, and we like anything above 30. If you want to use a standard cream or spray-on sunscreen, you should apply it similarly to how you would a serum: spray or squirt some of the product into the palm of your hand, massage your hands together, then gently press the sunscreen onto your face and neck. Better still, if the moisturizer you favor has an integrated SPF. Gently massage it over your face (don't rub) and feel accomplished by combining two elements of your ideal skincare regimen. Don't forget, though, that UV damage isn't only a concern for your face. Apply SPF on the tops of your feet if you're wearing open shoes, your chest, the backs of your hands, your exposed legs, and your scalp, where your hair grows. Avoid burns today for beautiful skin tomorrow! Step nine: Moisturize You've already accomplished this if you used a moisturizer with SPF; congrats! A mild moisturizer is mostly for daytime usage for everyone else. It prevents your skin from drying out during the day and helps it seem attractive and dewy beneath your makeup. Smooth your moisturizer over your face, neck, and chest, being careful to pat it on rather than rubbing it on the sensitive area around your eyes. Step ten: Primer The last stage! Primer is crucial since it not only hides fine lines and fills up pores, but also offers a flawless foundation for the rest of your makeup. Some primers even have skincare components integrated into them so you may enhance your complexion while ensuring the longevity of your foundation. Primers are frequently silicone-based; if you have silicone sensitivity, do your research to be sure the product you choose won't cause you to break out. Think of a pea-sized quantity of primer as being sufficient for most applications. Apply the primer to your skin (including your eyelids) with your two index fingers, paying additional attention to any very uneven areas. Allow two to three minutes for it to set, and then voila! You’re ready to apply your makeup, and your skin is ready to face the day. #Fashion #Skincare #MorningRoutine #Beauty #Skin #Makeup #Primer #Moisturize #SPF SEARCH The Rich Heritage of Indian Handloom FASHION Fashion In The 19th Century FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION The Influence Of Kanye West On Fashion FASHION K-Pop Fashion And Its Impact On Global Wardrobe FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Dubai Fashion Week Day Five: Emerging Talents, Cultural Heritage, And Global Fashion Dialogues 14 September 2024 FASHION By Anushka Sharma Marina Ignjat: A Journey Through Style And Travel 13 September 2024 FASHION By Anushka Sharma Anaya Collection Unveils "Gaudí’s Reverie" At Dubai Fashion Week: A Fusion Of Love, Technique, And Playful Elegance 11 September 2024 FASHION By Anushka Sharma Hebajasmi Unveils Captivating New Collection For SS25: A Masterpiece Of Art And Fashion 10 September 2024 FASHION RELATED POSTS

  • Winter – Take Care

by Akash Khatri Winter – Take Care 9 January 2021 FASHION Advertisement The chilly season is back and now is the time to take extra care of your skin. Lack of nourishment can lead to dull, pale and dry skin. Winter weather affects all skin types. Some basics to keep your skin radiant and glowing: MOISTURISE Keep your skin hydrated! The cold winter air pulls moisture from your skin leaving it dry and itchy. Protect the natural oils by using a ceramide-rich cream. Try moisturizers with added vitamin C or vitamin E. For added protection, slip on socks or gloves to help the cream soak in better. A thermostat might suck in the hydration causing dry air which is bad for your skin, use a humidifier to add the moisture back. Hydrate We tend to not feel much thirsty during the cold but our body loses water in so many ways. Keep your body stocked with fluids to avoid the dullness. Health experts recommend drinking at least half a gallon a day. Sweater itch Winter skin is fragile, avoid materials that tend to irritate you as they may result in rashes. If you feel itchy, wear a cotton t-shirt underneath or use softer materials such as cashmere or fleece. Prefer lighter fabrics to synthetic ones. Use lukewarm water Hot water leaves our skin dry and flaky as it washes away the natural hydrating oils. Use lukewarm water, it helps loosen the dirt and also avoids the irritation. Try cutting down on shower time and temperature too, avoid the long hot tempting showers. Change your skincare A light moisturizing lotion might have been sufficient during the sunny summer days but it won’t do any good in the harsh winters. Use heavy rich creams with ingredients such as botanical oil, hyaluronic acid, glycerine, niacinamide and bakuchiol . Though the warm winter sun feels good but the UV rays are still harmful, use a good SPF sunscreen with titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. Avoid products that contain alcohol as they make your skin dry. Try overnight masks. Layer using a toner, serum and facial oils such as virgin coconut oil or grapeseed oil. • Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing

by Rupashree Ravi Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing 4 August 2022 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Gender equality in the workplace is still a pipe dream for many. Education, discrimination, societal norms, and other factors affect women’s occupational choices and their pay. It is known that women are paid significantly lesser than men for the same work they do, whether it is paid domestic labour or a desk job. This is despite the fact that over the last several decades, millions of women have joined the workforce and have also made huge gains in their educational attainment. All this means that the gender pay gap is real. It also hurts women by suppressing their earnings and making it harder for them to keep a balance between work and family. The gender pay gap is essentially the average difference between the remuneration received by working men and women. But it is more nuanced as the pay gaps can be unadjusted or adjusted. The former is much starker as it simply differentiates between the mean and median wages of the two genders, while the latter takes into account differences in factors such as occupation, education, and job experience. Women are often blamed for not earning more “Worldwide, women only make 77 cents for every dollar earned by men. This results in a lifetime of income inequality between men and women and more women retiring into poverty.” This kind of inequality can be seen in all countries and across all sectors because women’s work is undervalued and they also tend to be concentrated in different jobs than men. Even though the nature of the work may require equal or more effort and skills, it is still valued and remunerated less. The gap widens for women of colour, immigrant women, and mothers, which pushes them into casual and part-time work in the informal economy. This kind of phenomenon is common and much larger in developing countries than in developed countries. It is alarming to know that in a country like India, the reasons for the pay gap are much more complicated. Girl students are forced to drop out of school and are married off, and even if they are educated, many women are not allowed to work by their families. Women who join the workforce often need to take extended leaves for maternity and child care, and even the healthcare of other family members. To top it all, they also take care of household duties like cooking and cleaning. All these factors lead to women’s earnings falling behind men’s over time. Women are forced to micro-manage at their workplace and home We have to understand why the gender wage gap exists and how we can tackle it, without shifting the blame to women for not earning more. Our economy itself provides unequal opportunities for women at every point of their education, training, and career choices. As a result, women tend to choose jobs that pay less, according to a study. They disproportionately enter lower-paid, and female-dominated occupations. However, this decision is shaped by discrimination, societal norms, and other forces beyond their control. Employers also choose to prefer men over women for the same positions and roles due to factors such as motherhood penalties. “Equal pay for work of equal value” The bottom line, however, is that socio-economic disparity and patriarchal power structures expose women to more unpaid care work and land the weight of multi-dimensional work, including primary caretaking on them. Factors like non-inclusivity and sexual harassment in the workplace further pressurise them to opt out of their career prospects. Studies reveal that it will 195 years to overcome the gender pay gap in India This is why we need to expand paid family and medical leave and improve the overall work-life balance. Paid paternity leaves for men are also a great start so that they can help at home as well and lift the burden from women. Implementation of stricter laws like the Equal Pay Act at the state and national levels will help to reduce the widening pay gap. Lastly, gender-sensitive employment practices and measures to reduce sexual harassment in the workplace are the need of the hour all across the world. #Feminism #GenderPayGap #Representation #Patriarchy #WorkplaceInclusivity #GenderSensitisation SEARCH Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern SOCIETY Looking Through The Excellence Of ‘Jaali’ Architecture SOCIETY Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing SOCIETY Festival of Stones SOCIETY The Pygmalion Effect SOCIETY POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Uniting Voices, Shaping Futures: Dive Into Mun 2.0 At NIT Patna 8 September 2024 SOCIETY By Anushka Sharma These Healthy Habits Can Lower Your Risk Of Depression 31 August 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak A Glance In The Kshitij’23: A Euphoric Escapade 26 January 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak Mithibai Kshitij: Epitome Of Diverse Social Cause Empowerment 24 January 2024 SOCIETY RELATED POSTS

  • Simran Mittal: From Fashion To Entrepreneurship - A Journey Of Glam & Glow

by Akshra Khandelwal Simran Mittal: From Fashion To Entrepreneurship - A Journey Of Glam & Glow 26 August 2023 LIFESTYLE Advertisement In the world of glitz and glamor, it's not every day that you come across a young and vibrant influencer who has successfully divided into entrepreneurship. Simran Mittal, a fashion and beauty industry name-making wave, recently sat with us for an exclusive interview. Her journey from being a teenage model to establishing her salon chain, "Glam & Glow," is inspiring. Let's dive into her world of creativity, passion, and empowerment. "How are you doing?" we asked, and she replied with a beaming smile, "I am doing wonderful." That cheerful demeanor set the tone for an engaging conversation, and we were eager to learn more about her journey. "To begin with, I come from a Punjabi business family; I was never a 'bright student'; I got decent grades and was not like everyone; I was waiting to finish school," Simran began, recounting her early days. It's fascinating how destiny often has its own plans for us, and for Simran, those plans were about to unfold. At 16, Simran started her journey as a model, walking on runways and featuring in brand shoots. But she realized that modeling alone wasn't enough to quench her thirst for success. Her real passion lay in winning pageants and entering the entertainment industry. However, a setback came when she was rejected from a prestigious pageant due to height criteria, which she believed was untrue. That moment left her shattered, but Simran, determined to prove herself, participated in another pageant and emerged victorious at 18. Little did she know that her journey would take an unexpected turn. "Never did I know my love for being in front of the camera would begin my career from my Instagram page," she said. With around 4-5k followers, brands started reaching out to her, and she unknowingly stumbled upon the realm of influencing. "One day, I got a call for a Fashion reality show, and I was all in to see what it's got," she continued. Though her stint on the show was brief, being the youngest contestant gave her invaluable experience. Simran confessed that entrepreneurship was always on her mind. At 19, she started her salon, "Glam & Glow," driven by her creativity and love for fashion. The salon chain aimed to deliver quality services with an eye for detailing. "It was never just a business for me; it was my baby that I wanted to grow and nurture," she said. Her entrepreneurial journey didn't stop there. At age 21, she launched her own nail cosmetic range, "S&T Beauty," which offered 100% vegan products with fewer chemicals, which was rare in the market. Simran's passion for fashion and glamming up is evident in her style. She described her fashion must-haves, including an Oversized White Shirt, Well-fitted High-waisted ripped jeans, and a Corset belt to elevate any look. Pastel co-ords are her go-to when she wants to look effortlessly glam. When asked about her fashion inspirations, she mentioned Blake Lively and Natasha Poonamwala, admiring their bossy and glamorous styles. Beyond fashion and entrepreneurship, Simran also emphasized the importance of self-care. She has been doing CrossFit for four years, which keeps her active and toned. Journaling and writing down affirmations are also part of her self-care routine. Simran shared some valuable advice for young creators as an influencer and entrepreneur. "Stay authentic instead of putting up content just for the sake of it," she said. "It's fine to take breaks and not post every day. Quality over quantity is crucial." She also emphasized the significance of sticking to one or two niches, which helps the audience connect better. Simran's message to the world reflects her compassionate and fearless nature. "Be kind and choose the right people to spend your time and energy with," she advised. She also urged everyone to express their opinions without fear and to keep experimenting without waiting for the "right time." Simran Mittal's journey is a testament to the power of passion, determination, and embracing unforeseen opportunities in the ever-evolving world of fashion and beauty. From facing rejection to becoming an influential entrepreneur, she has carved her own path, inspiring countless others. We couldn't help but be inspired by Simran's sheer determination and passion. Her journey from beauty pageants to becoming a successful entrepreneur showcases the power of believing in oneself and seizing opportunities that come our way. • From Dental Drills To Instagram Thrills: The Journey Of Mekhala Bawsay

By Anushka Sharma From Dental Drills To Instagram Thrills: The Journey Of Mekhala Bawsay 16 August 2024 LIFESTYLE Advertisement In an era where digital transformations are reshaping careers and creating new pathways, few stories are as intriguing as that of Mekhala Bawsay . Once a practising dentist with a flourishing clinic, Mekhala now stands as a prominent figure in the digital realm, an influencer who has mastered the art of content creation. But how did this remarkable transition occur? Let’s dive into Mekhala’s journey and uncover the secrets behind her success. Mekhala’s venture into the world of influence was anything but planned. Four years ago, while juggling a dental practice and part-time modelling, she felt an undeniable pull towards the fashion and beauty industry. "I realised that being in front of the camera, getting ready, and creating content made me genuinely happy," Mekhala recalls. Despite a successful dental practice, she couldn't ignore her true passion. The decision to shift careers wasn't easy, especially coming from a family of doctors. However, Mekhala was determined. "One day, I decided to pursue what I actually wanted to do rather than what I was supposed to do," she explains. She began posting content on Instagram, even before the advent of Reels, focusing on beautiful, curated photos. Slowly but surely, her follower count grew from a few hundred to several thousand. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Mekhala seized the opportunity to hone her skills. With events and launches on hold, she and a friend invested time in learning about photo and video creation, editing, and upgrading their gear. This period of intense learning paid off when Reels emerged, revolutionising Instagram and catapulting Mekhala’s following to over 400,000. Brands took notice, and her collaborations expanded significantly. Interestingly, Mekhala’s journey was entirely self-taught. Despite pursuing an MBA in marketing, she learned the intricacies of digital content creation on her own. "There was no such recognized field as an influencer back then," she notes. Her ability to adapt, learn, and create captivating content set her apart in an increasingly crowded space. But Mekhala’s transformation wasn’t just about personal passion; it also required strategic thinking. She emphasises the importance of loving what you do, even if it means making sacrifices. "Unless you love what you do, you won't feel like getting up in the morning," she advises. For her, the joy of creating content outweighed the security of a traditional career in dentistry. Mekhala’s success also stems from her understanding of the digital marketing landscape. Today, she runs a digital marketing agency, managing brands and handling multiple projects simultaneously. "I enjoy this more," she admits, highlighting the fulfilment she derives from her current role. A vital aspect of Mekhala’s influence lies in her authenticity. She remains true to her roots, focusing on skincare , beauty, and lifestyle content. As a new mother, she has seamlessly integrated mom-influencing into her repertoire. Her relatable and genuine approach resonates with her audience, fostering trust and engagement. When asked about skin care tips, Mekhala shares timeless advice passed down from her mother. "I used to apply a lot of organic sandalwood," she reveals. She also swears by coconut oil for removing makeup, emphasising the importance of nourishing the skin naturally. Her commitment to these practices has helped her maintain a clear and healthy complexion. Mekhala’s rise to influencer stardom is not just about posting pretty pictures. It's about strategic content creation, continuous learning, and staying true to oneself. For aspiring influencers, she offers valuable advice: "Find your talent and work on it. You don’t need to invest heavily initially. Start small and keep improving." In terms of finances, Mekhala sheds light on the potential earnings in the influencer industry. While initial stages might involve barter collaborations, serious income opportunities arise as follower counts grow. "The pricing can start from 5,000 to 10,000 INR and go up to 1 lakh to 2 lakhs per brand collaboration," she explains. However, she notes that regular income often requires consistent collaborations. Mekhala also addresses the competitive nature of the industry, particularly in Mumbai. While the city offers numerous opportunities for brand collaborations, she believes there’s untapped potential in regional areas. "The more local you are, the more chances there are for you to grow," she asserts, encouraging influencers to stay connected to their roots. Reflecting on her journey, Mekhala’s story is a testament to the power of following one’s passion, adapting to change, and embracing new opportunities. A recipient of an award of recognition among 45 healthcare change makers on social media , Her transition from dentist to influencer serves as an inspiring example of how embracing digital platforms can lead to uncharted territories and fulfilling careers. For those considering a similar path, Mekhala’s journey underscores the importance of authenticity, hard work, and unwavering dedication to one’s true calling.
